Great video. I wish fcs made replacement sections. The straps are generally fine so they should sell just the rope part. Undo the grommit with small alun key and insert new section. Job done !!!

Nice video! For the frayed rope issue, just use dyneema cords. They are incredibly strong and abrasion-resistant. I now use dyneema cords for tying to the leash plug, cutting away the built-in ropes of O&E leash for instance that can fail easily. I even use two loops for extra safety.

Thank you! I'll keep an eye out for them

Thanks for your Post.... Good timing that I looked only several weeks after you've Posted.... I've wondered about that knot for awhile.... I have an old Ocean Earth leg rope that used to have the brass swivel stitched into the ankle strap and eventually pulled out, but I was able to allen key it in to the ankle strap of a brand new Creatures Of Leisure leg rope that broke on its' second use the very next day.... The rope snapping clean in half.... The nylon cord is fraying at the swivel and I was concerned about it's eventually breaking.... I wish to keep using the Ocean Earth leg rope which is more elastic than modern varieties and just keeps stretching out strong and true after 12 years of service.... Which must be some kind of record, is good for the environment and has been very kind on my pocket!

Exactly! I remember the same thing, older leggies that just never broke, only stretched...the best!

Do you have a way to fix it, if the break is on the piece that connects do the cuff? That's where mine broke...
@TheSurfRat2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm nahh, that's annoying aye, might be a goner, or we petition the surf cos to make repairable gear!

What size shrink-wrap is that? I have to order through tokopedia here. And, yes, most of mine break off right on the ankle strap.
@TheSurfRat2 жыл бұрын
I just got some 40mm wide, but it looks a bit big, so maybe 30mm? It's gotta get over your knot. It's not that easy to find what I want here in NZ

Any idea what diameter rope you used? I think the hole on the end of mine might be narrower than yours and I want to double-check if it is, because I'm worried that a narrower rope might break easier
@TheSurfRat4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm not sure, just try find something that just fits through the hole. Another comment here mentions dynacord (i think) which is supposed to be strong. Boat/yachting stores will have quality rope too. Good luck!

@TheSurfRat5 жыл бұрын
nah, leashes round here cost at least $30, this repair cost me maybe....$1. It will take your time, which is worth something, but also keep some plastic in a useful state for a while longer
