Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy allows your doctor to view the entire colon using a device called an endoscope. As the scope moves into your colon, your doctor views the output on a monitor to check for growths or polyps. Also known as the large intestine, the colon is responsible for the final stages of the digestion. It absorbs remaining water and electrolytes from indigestible food, accepts and stores food remains that weren’t digested in the small intestine, and eliminates solid waste from the body. I had one it was horrendous they said they would give me sedation, but it didn’t work, the pain was terrible and I had to stop half way through, the specialist has rung me since and I’m going for a scan instead, so hopefully that will be better and no pain !!!

I had my first colonoscopy two to three years ago. I was scared and nervous about it at first, but once I did research and watched videos about it, I wasn't so scared. But, I hated the lemon prep stuff! Ick!

My mother started with sigmoid: cancer she ignored the symptoms it had gone to her liver and it made such a big mess she could barely use the restroom while the time they found out it was stage 5 she lived another 7 years this was back in 1989 when she passed the gave her something with sis platinum it's enough jeans so I already had a cup of couple of colonoscopies every 5 year Everything was negative Last year it was positive I had cancer but it was small and removed so this year I need to have another colonoscopy I can't wait the full 5 years I hate the procedure because of the prep Thank god my doctor whatever he gives me I'm a sleeve of ah victim of Thank god my doctor whatever he gives me I'm a sleeve of ah victim of CPTSD I can't tolerate physical pain so it's good that he puts me to sleep

In my experience of colonoscopy i were fine , i had no side effect .Maybe because i ask to sleep so i felt nothing when i woke up at all

I am a patient on Warfarin permanently. My hospital was very careful with me because Warfarin increase the coagulation time of blood. 3 days of special diet inhospital before endoscope at the end of the 4th day. Still I had large amount of congeled blood the following day, but I was still sent out. I being very stupid went on a shopping spree and carried heavy loads onto the bus just as I was about to vomit and feint. But I kept my head very low and hand on my mouth to stop myself vomiting. Finally got home alive and my mum's carer kept me warm with loads of blankets. I probably bled 1-2 litres in all. 😅 A 2nd endoscope colonoscopy is required to finish the job next week. This time I'll definitely be sensible. 😊
