21:40 I think something people fail to be aware of the beyonce situation is that she's never talked, or demeaned the award shows and she's actually very gracious towards them, now ofc jay z last year doing his stunt kind of reveals the closed doors conversations, however, when is beyonce award discussion, is always everybody talking and assuming things about her and she being silent. In the AMC situation, the only thing she said is that she didn't feel welcomed, while it was dolly parton, zach bryan, and everyone talking about how she should've done xyz, saying she was album hopping (which is true, but also isn't bad, but i digress), while giving nominations to F1-Trillion after he was also album hopping. I don't wanna give too much credit to beyonce however i think her stance of silence is very smart since it's the audience connecting the dots themselves, using beyonce as a example. Why black women haven't win AOTY in decades, while taylor has 4, the racist history of country and the AMC, are all things that naturally connect how supposedly one of the best black artists doesn't get the same recognition to their white counterparts. And obviously she isn't a victim of social structures in the same level you and I are, and there are discussions to be had about beyonce's usage of black liberation, however I think is all about the bigger picture, and I hate people play ignorance towards the nuances of this discussion. edit: lolll just after writing this and unpausing, zach addressed all of this 😭, I should stfu and listen and not let the stan instict take over me

The problem I have with Beyonce's album was that it did not do well on the country airplay and regular streaming charts at all. That to me is an indication that it was the pop side fans that bought the album because of the artist but after the initial release it dropped of fast. Texas Hold 'Em peaked at 33 at the country airplay charts. Means no one was listening to her country album. Compare that to Shaboozey, his single is only the 11th ever that had 7 weeks or more at the nr 1 country airplay spot.

I like ttpd for what it is (an honest raw retelling of a heartbreak that changed her) but it’s not Grammy worthy. As good as parts of the album are, the whole album as a body of work is inconsistent and very clunky at times,s and I would be upset if it won aoty. Madeline talking about how if she had one single Grammy, she would show it off to everyone who came in her house and tell the story, and then 5 minutes later you guys bringing up the year of Adele’s 21, it compels me to share: earlier this year i had my first “random” hookup with a STRANGER from REDDIT, and I didn’t even learn his name until we were grabbing food beforehand and chatting, so there was no advance googling being done. (He was absolutely stunning btw, and very sweet and interesting as well). As I was leaving his place and he said something about work, and I asked him what he did, and find out he’s a studio engineer, in the popular music industry (chill, i have family members, friends, acquaintances who are pro musicians or sound engineers or performers). i get home an hour+ away, late, and as i park in my spot i get a wild hair and decide to look him up and see if he’s worked w/ anyone i’ve heard of. WELL YES. he’s engineered for some of the biggest artists at his previous studio in London, and has a freakin’ Grammy from Adele’s 21 😂. (And in a truly baffling and hilarious coincidence, t turns out that when he asked me to skip the 3rd song on my “moody sexy vibes” playlist, it wasn’t because it reminded him of someone, as i assumed, but because it just so happened to be his first ever professional credit that gave him his start- this older song and band was new to me only a couple months prior because i heard it used on a TV show!)

I just... is the Grammy's not about the quality of the music over everything else? Why should not pursuing a huge PR campaign or promoting the album hurt your chances? I see nothing wrong with Beyoncé dropping a great album and then dipping out without doing music videos, interviews, or dropping re-releases to keep it on the charts. @@highperformer5532 I never stated that her not winning is racism, although it would definitely contribute to it. Also, with Taylor, she has a track record of submitting her less well-written songs for SOTY, but i can somewhat understand how cardigan and all too well not winning seems strange.

@@jaydot_2576 YBWM, SO, BS, Lover, Cardigan, ATW10 were nominated for SOTY and they all are excellent songs. She didn't win not because of the disrespect towards her, but simply because each time there was a better song according to the jury. And it's ok. Even ATW10 lost to an absolutely well-deserving song, though I forgot its title. The same with Beyonce. She lost AOTY 4 times not because of the old white male racists in the committee. Cowboy Carter's odds to win now are 17/2. If I assume that previously her odds were around 5/1 each time than her not winning even once is like 40%. Bottom line, not a big deal, no cospiracy, or racism, or whatever.
