I'm one of those weirdos who actually enjoys it. Even Spelling is Fun! There's something about saying, "I'm going to write an anthem celebrating what an unapologetically melodramatic dork I am" that warms my unapologetically melodramatic dorky heart. I like that she's her own champion of absurdity. I love the scene in French at the beginning. And if it weren't for me, Mother wouldn't have Benjamin! 🎉 I don't mind being in the grinning glittered minority on this one. Just because she's a pop icon doesn't mean she needs to only give what people ask for. True artists have to create stuff that brings them joy even if it doesn't always bring acclain or commercial success. Me! & Cats are examples of Taylor putting down her astrolabes, voodoo dolls, and calculators and just being a creative goofball having a good time. I love that for her.

I'm not one of the folks who denies that Joe was involved in writing some of the songs on f/e/M - but I do agree that she saw the end of their relationship coming, and her being sure that he had the songwriting credits under the pen name was her thinking ahead along the lines of alimony. He had certainly gotten used to a certain standard of living while they were together, and I think she wanted to make sure he had an income stream if they broke up.

Speaking of chaos and being messy, I am the only one on the planet that remembers this: before 2013 Grammys, there were rumors saying she was feuding with Carrie Underwood because of her joke about Taylor when hosting 2012 CMAs. Carrie addressed about this to the press but Taylor never did, at the time I believed Taylor's team was the one behind this messiness. At the live event, Taylor was front row. After Carrie performed, almost everyone gave standing ovation except for Taylor who visibly sat down (not caught on the live broadcast, but there were some footages), which is so not her to not cheer for anyone performing on stage.
