It was a pleasure to see you work. Nice job. In the utility room with regards to the water pipes take the back of the cabinet out and put a 30mm by 30mm tiber on the uprights at the back and then trim the back panel down a few mm then use 4 or 6 mirror screws to attach the back panel back into place. The plumber will thank you for it and this can then become a maintenance hatch.
@thetallcarpenter2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sergio🖐That's a great suggestion and similar to what I might do if the pipes ever needed inspecting/working on👍In this instance though, the pipes are below the base of the unit, so removing the carcase just made it easier during the plumbing installation👊Thanks for your comment and for watching 😎 Cheers Del

Nice work 👊, this kitchen looks very tight, lovely how the trim and paneling give it a lot of character and style already. It’s so rare to get the plumbing fixed exactly where you need it, even with a kitchen planned in detail and a plumber doing his best somehow every so often one of the pipes comes in exactly at the joint of two cabinets to create the perfect nuisance. The creativity that ensues always makes me think, how the next person is going to react to the artistic constellation of s-bends and boreholes. Gj on considering.

Great video once again👌👌 It's a pity the manufacturer didn't make a dedicated sink unit with a stepped down back and a deep front rail, makes life a good bit easier when fitting the tap and supporting those sinks. Another tool for you to consider for future kitchen fitting is a pocket screw jig (unless you already do), so handy especially since the manufacturer uses this method.
@thetallcarpenter2 жыл бұрын

@johnmackay77892 жыл бұрын
@@thetallcarpenter Its amazing what uses you find pocket screws for. Great to use instead of angle brackets in a lot of cases but really good for fixing end panels or haffits when forming openings for integrated appliances. Angle brackets can make a 600mm opening too tight.

@@thetallcarpenter there's is quite a choice out there, I'm still using the original Kreg one from about 20 years ago which is fairly limited compared to the new fully adjustable ones. Also the panhead pocket screws are the best to use but you can just get away with countersink screws you have to be careful not to bust out the pocket hole. Cheers 👍
@tracer11272 жыл бұрын
Yes if you don’t plan ahead with the sinks that fit most of the unit boy would you have a fun day fitting the tap. I have fitted a few lately and like you say a dedicated unit with the supports and cut out’s would save a lot of faff. Some of those sinks are 25kg without any water and washing up.

Great work del, I will be starting my kitchen soon,but first I want to install some insulated plasterboard on the walls, what fixings do you recommend for kitchen units onto insulated plasterboard walls. Cheers Del 👍
@thetallcarpenter Жыл бұрын
Hi Glen🖐You might have caught me out with this question bud, as fixing wall units to plasterboard is something I always avoid purely due to the weight that these units can have in them. (plates/crockery etc). How thick is the insulation? If it was no more than 50mm I'd think about using M8x100 'Fischer' fixings so they will go into the masonry behind🤔

I am watching you all rugged up as the Aussies say. Must be cooling down now. It has been high 30's here last few days. Humidity through the roof and fierce thunderstorms at night.
