Right around the 1:07:50 mark, he specifically talks about how he herd about “Torn Victor” which was a cover name used by the ISA in the late 90s in the Balkans. The ISA played a huge role in the targeting of Serb war criminals such as Simo Drljaca, Milan Kovacevic and Radovan Karadzic etc. The ISA at that time had some of the most powerful SIGINT surveillance technology in the world. Former British Intelligence Officer Michael Smith wrote in his book Killer Elite that the UK SAS took a lot of credit in the media for the arrests, but the role that the ISA played in actually locating the targets (via their cellular communications) would go down as one of the biggest unrecognized success stories in the Balkans conflict.

Btw a delta officer plank owner set the record straight. He made it clear from day one in 1977ish the only requirement to tryout is you need to be employed by DOD. (Any Branch&No combat experience required). He then went on to explain. The myths and misinformation was started by people who wanted an excuse. So they were afraid of failing so they just told friends “Ohh I don’t have the experience, they won’t take me”. When the unit was stood up from birth to start at the basics from Selection & Assessment threw OTC. They created it in peace time. So they understood they could accept anyone and compensate for lack of real world experience simply via Training. - but any human can do anything if they study and train long enough to do something. The founders understood this and that’s why they opened the door to anyone. Also they were afraid if they only allowed army to apply they wouldn’t be diverse enough to do true covert operations. When your alone in a country. You need people from all walks of life to handle any situation. It was very well thought out. -- now as of today delta is no longer a bespoke capability. Literally our 75th Ranger regiment/ raiders/24 sts/ devgru /CIF-CRF/seals etc are more than capable of a hostage rescue. Which is something we should be proud of. The only difference is FUNDING. People don’t understand after 20yrs of war even our most basic infantry units are more advanced than 1990s Delta Force operators. This came from 2 delta operators themselves. Real world experience always wins over training.

There was a smallish club on Bullis . So it was having fun driving all day and drinking most nights :D If memory serves the Asst NCOIC was just finishing his time in the Army after he came back from RVN . I was made a " big deal " A.J Corporal during AIT . I also played drums in the Co. band . Was also on the Company swim Team against all the other Companys at SAM during that time . We also had a female General I.C at Sam at the time . She would cruise around mornings in her Jeep with the STARS on a plate on the front . Worst place to be at Sam , was a " gang shitter " on a Sunday morning . Great interview by this Seal . He must know Don Shipley who exposes fake Seals . He talked on one of his videos about being deployed and working with the 10th at Saravo.... Great video !!

So if you're an E-8 they commission you to O-1? 😱 I work in a European army and we consider your actual experience if you want to do the jump from NCO to Officer (so if you were an E-8 you'd probably be promoted directly to an 0-2 at the very least with a faster path to become O-3).
@LRRPFco522 жыл бұрын
It works a lot differently in every European and NATO country I've worked with. First thing that really sticks out is that a lot of the officers are highly competent, started out enlisted in their career field. I saw that with Recce, Armor, Frogmen, and Artillery career fields. Finnish Armor officers I know built their own tank simulators, complete with actual controls for the gunner, and TC driven by Personal Computers at their base. They lived and loved that job enough to dedicate a lot of their personal time, money, and efforts towards mastering their trade. Some of them were very passionate about other skill sets and pursued those with as much dedication and commitment, including the sniping community. One of them helped design the SAKO TRG sniper system, competed in military sniper team matches. The threat is right next door in Europe, so people take things seriously.
@ag48322 жыл бұрын
@@LRRPFco52 I can confirm that. In my country you can't be commissioned as an officer. You have to go through basic, become an NCO and then an Officer (some guys do get a faster road from NCO to Officer because of their qualities, though). For instance I went to Officer school shortly after being promoted to NCO because I already had a college degree.

Is the gorilla story true?
@alfredjamesabordo35822 жыл бұрын
I haven't finished the video yet, but is he talking about a gorilla costume used to intercept a war criminal? If so, yes. It happened. I read about in Pete Blaber's book, "The Mission, The Men and Me".

He said he went through Assessment and Selection in Nevada. Was the Unit's selection course once in Nevada? That's gotta be a tough time.

Is SMU just another way to say Delta Force?
@Ronkushman4202 жыл бұрын
Special Missions Unit or JSOC he wasn’t delta force he was ISA
@joesgotya99302 жыл бұрын
JSOC is home to the SMUs.. The most well know SMUs are.. - Army Delta Force -Navy SEAL team 6 -Air Force 24 STS - Army Rangers RRC - Army JREG/TFO/ISA --> This unit had a lot of cover names in its history.

So this guy was at Devgru and they allowed him to go try out for the unit.. interesting to hear that.
@ryhk32932 жыл бұрын
He wasn't at DEVGRU. He clearly states that he didn't go to DEVGRU. The Army/JSOC SMU he went to isn't CAG/Delta, but the ISA/Orange. There is a guy who is known to the public, MSG Kevin Holland, who was a DEVGRU/ST6 SEAL who went to Delta selection and was selected and passed OTC and became operational with CAG.

Proof Delta Force is on higher level than Seal Team 6. When Navy Seals try or for Delta Force but Delta but the reverse never happens
@DJNZNZ2 жыл бұрын
Yes Delta Force is a higher level than tier 2 SEAL teams. SEAL team 6 is Tier 1 and only pulls from the Navy SEALs while Delta pulls from every branch. The reason You never see Army guys in SEAL team 6 is literally because they can’t go over there. Often what will happen is a SEAL will try to screen for SEAL Team 6, get denied for some reason, but still want to be tier 1 so they will go to screen for Delta Force because they will pull from the Navy.

Seal team 6 only takes Seals so its impossible for anyone from another branch to join.

I love how there are a lot of SEALs that transition over to Army's tier 1 unit...Only the SEALs outside of the Army's special operations has the temperament and physical capabilities to make it through DELTA's selection.
Ugh. This is probably Drew's first interview, so he has to work out all the kinks. Dude just bullshit his way through 3 hours without really saying anything.

Let’s not forget that US supplied Iraq with Chem weapons during thier 8 year war with Iran, which was the biggest Chem fight since WW1. Yes there was WMD in Iraq, US WMD😂
