I call/type Viper/Viper Mini a lot in this video when I should have been saying DA/DA mini, my bad......... I think I was just thinking what it should be.

I'm confused about why you felt compelled to say the things you said in this video. You say you didn't like it, but didn't really say why. Because it's small? That's pretty much the point. No one is putting a gun to anyone's head and making them buy a "mini" mouse when the full size version is widely available.

@@TheTechne This mouse was actually intended for the asian market, but it was so successful, they brought it to the western market. I absoutely hate optical switches, they're the worse feeling switches ive felt. They don't even work for mobas either theyre stiff and hard to spam. So these mouses with optical switches are only good for fps players usually.

Also I really do think it is for small hands more specifically vs being like the Viper mini which by shape is going to be more versatile. They are one if the few who make left handed ergos. BTW I use my DA V2 in a claw grip so I'd say it's more Palm/Claw vs just palm. I think they were targeting smaller hands with this guy.

You don't get it. I got this mouse at the end of june. This mouse is not usable for palm grip users unless you are a child. The shape is also different from the original DeathAdder, it's not just smaller, it's also way more flat and the curvature on the left side is more pronounced. It's at best usable for fingertip or claw but then why pick this over other mice that make more sense for these gripstyles ?

You know, I'm an adult female gamer and I have very small hands. It's very, very hard for me to find a mouse that will fit my hands. The most I can find is those cheap, ugly, uncomfortable tiny mouse definitely not made for gaming. I've used normal sized gaming mouses for a long time and my hands tend to hurt after a couple of hours, nevermind the decrease in performance because my hand is not comfortable. So that's WHY. It's not only useful for 6 year olds. This mouse is a lifesaver.

Razer employee here, and I don't typically like to publicly engage because PR/marketing is not my department but I felt it was important for me to post here. "Money grab" - If anything, we'd make a shit ton more money with another medium sized mouse that sits in the fat part of the bell curve, rather than make a mouse that's only suitable for maybe ~15% of the demographic (if even that). We've made a ton of mice throughout our history that aren't particularly profitable to us (or even straight-up loss making), 3 left handed mice, salmosa asian edition (also tiny) because all segments of gamers are important to us and our ethos. The deathadder mini was created because we were inundated by requests of a smaller deathadder over the years. It was meant as an Asia-exclusive initially, as many have pointed out, but we caved in to the requests on /r/mousereview and our social media and did made it available to other parts of the world through limited online channels. "Cable" - it's completely fair to say that it's not as supple as some others on the market, and I agree. We continue to look at ways to improve in that regard. However, having tested all the other so called "best" cables, most of them fail miserably on regulatory compliance, and we don't play fast-and-loose there. They also fail several of our internal quality standards not mandated by law (e.g. fire retardant test, temperature shock tests, load tests, bend tests etc.), and it could be argued that our internal standards are excessive but we made a conscious choice to prioritize those aspects over just cable flex, even though they're "invisible" to the end user. Notice how none of the top-5 brands other than Razer have a shoelace type cable on a single one of their mice? Now you know why. ;)

I bought the original DeathAdder V2 way back when and it was terrible for my smallish hands and grip style. I recently decided to get the DeathAdder mini and can confirm that it is great for me. The Viper mini gave my fingers cramps because of the shape. I like that razer is now giving more variety to their customers for such a cheap price without compromising built quality. The cable is not the best but I can live with that.

The DA mini was made for people who wanted an ergo mouse but have really small hands. This product was originally a China-exclusive because during the testing phase feedback was extremely mixed, but Razer's esports teams from China really liked it. It was only because of community feedback and demand they decided to release it elsewhere, on the Razer store. The fact that they listened to the community despite knowing the potential losses of selling this mouse is applaudable.

The DeathAdder Mini was originally test marketed in China because the majority of people over there typically have smaller hands, which is an actual factor in the design of the Mini, it is meant for smaller hands. The one thing I don't understand about the DeathAdder though, is why so many people "claw" it in their hands when it's meant to be a palm grip mouse like you stated. My assumption is that the Mini is meant for people that prefer to claw their DeathAdder but want a smaller weight. I personally don't think it was meant to be a cash grab but I don't think it was a logical release for Razer, considering how hard the fans are hurting for a wireless DeathAdder. But hey, that's just my take on it

Okay but what confuses me about your review is if the original Death Adder is such a great mouse, then why can’t I, a person with smaller hands, use the mini? There are people out there that want to use the DA (and other mice for that matter) but can’t because it’s too big for their hand. If they didn’t create the mini version, then I wouldn’t be able to use it. Your main argument while comparing the original DA and the mini is basically saying that the mini isn’t the right fit for you...obviously because you have bigger hands. The mini allows smaller handed people to be able to use it as well now. You even said yourself it’s a great fit for your 6 year old. Probably because your kid has small hands...which is the purpose of a mini version of mice..I just don’t quite understand the need to add that part into your review.

I'm sorry but you're missing a point here. I have small hands, 16cm long and 8cm wide, for me the original DA v2 is way too big, I play competitive shooters with claw grip style and this is when I'm actually glad they brought the original ergonomic shape of the big DA into a smaller version. The fact that it isn't a good fit for your hand size and grip style doesn't make it useless. 🤷‍♂️

I am returning the regular deathadder v2 now that I got the mini. IMO, it's better in every way. The regular deathadder v2 was quite heavy and would give me hand cramps after a while yet the fit was almost perfect. The mini corrected every issue I have with the regular one. For most people, the regular one will be great but I think the mini is really only for children or those of us with small hands. I don't have any issues with the cable at all. The mouse is so light that I forget that it's wired sometimes.

Pre rant TLDR this is my god mouse and I am a clear part of the market that he completely pretended didn't exist (or was just completely ignorant of.) This review completely misses the point. It might not work for for you but for me, someone who has tried literally over a dozen mice searching for the right one, this mouse is absolutely PERFECT! And this is also coming from someone with medium sized, but very wide hands. This is why I don't take any techne reviews seriously. Razer employee here. This is largely correct. It wasn't even released in most markets until people started going mad at us for not making it available in XYZ country. We made it available in online channels in all other countries because there was a significant outcry for it.

I am pretty sure it is for smaller hands. Just like them making a left handed mamba I think it is. The LH model is not going to make them money but it is to please that hand orientation just like the mini is pleasing a hand size (kids, women smaller guys). Now a mini ergo isnt going to be as versatile as a mini ambi. I dont think the viper mini is necessarily for every size either. I have slightly above average sized hands and it doesn't work for me. Just my thoughts.

Great video man. I actually really liked the V2 mini, albeit it is too small but the grip tape felt really good imo. If the mini was like halfway between the regular V2 and the current mini it would be almost perfect.

This was released for Asian markets, there was a big demand on r/mousereview for Razer to release it in different markets, to the point many people were importing it from China. Razer simply released it worldwide due to the demand. I don't think there's anything bad about releasing a shape in different sizes, you could complain if they discontinued the original shape and made this the "new" Deathadder but they didn't.

I don't think it's a money grab, I think it's a release for people who have much smaller hands. As with people who are left handed, they are the minority. It wouldn't surprise me if this mouse will be discontinued like the Naga left handed version. Also it's no surprise to me that they released it in Asia initially as they have smaller hands overall.

Just razer being razer🙄 Oh, Mr. Techne, I returned my razer huntsman elite and got the apex pro instead. Much happier with the apex pro, had no idea what I was missing out on. I guess the razer marketing team did its job but the design team fell short.

I would not call this a money grab, this is a very cheap mouse with good build quality, there are only a few small ergo mice and it's good to give people options on that. DA v2 is an old school mouse with many better options on that size range. How large are your hands?

@@TheTechne I wasn't attacking you or the review in any way. I own the DA Mini and the Viper Mini, the DA (ORIGINAL) is still the DA and that is why this is the DA Mini. Small ergos are niche picks for those with small hands or who have more hybrid style grips.

The mini series Speed flex cable looses the stiffness after 1/2months of use. Been using my razer viper mini and it was stiff AF when i bought it but it started to loosen up after 2weeks.

I have the Razer Viper Mini. It's a great mouse. Only thing I would like to do is to paracord it for the extra flexibility even tho when OEM is still great.

Honestly, even if it IS a money grab, they can have mine. I bought a DA elite on Black Friday last year, and i wanted to like it--I tried SO HARD to like it--but the elite was the most awkward mouse for me. Personally, the g203 is always the comparison I come back to for size and shape--but I remember wishing the DA was smaller. I'm happy that we get this classic mouse with an entry in the small mouse category. Like you, I'm not a big fan of holes, but I've really liked the shape of the Cooler Master mm711, and I'm planning to get this as my next mouse.
