To any US commenters, have you found a good alternative to the tester pots, the only ones I have found are like $3-6 for around 8 oz which isn't much better than just using acrylic craft paints.

Maybe an odd question, but I was wondering what type of paint would work for this? Does it need to be acrylic, or for the base coats would latex work, or are there any reasons that might cause problems?

•cometbus• I'm using emulsion (UK version of the US Latex), specifically tester pots. There's a vid covering all the different paints and their uses for terrain building in the back to basics playlist mate

I have only the option to put cast on my styrofoam and paint it with watercolours. I tried to imitate your "stone walls" from your last video, but for a "stone pathway". Would you suggest any other way of painting it without using too much money? And I wouldn't like the shapes to be evened out too much by the cast or whatever you would use on it... THX

Ah, right mate, for watercolours, if that's all you've got, I'd recommend mixing some dark greys and browns and using them as a wash over the plaster. If you're worrying about the plaster filling in the details of your rocks, you can always use a damp toothbrush to scrub out any cracks that get filled. Do a test piece and let me know how you get on mate.

In the US, yes
