I want to thank you for having a very good pace of video. It’s fast enough to keep things interesting but slow enough that you actually take time to read what reports you’re displaying or give the watcher enough time to absorb what you’re showing - it’s annoying when other channels will quickly flash their visual aid on the screen and you have to go back and pause the video on a specific frame to see it long enough. Oh, and right up front on the video you give credit where credit is due - in this case NY times.

Great insight into Nickel. So few Tesla KZbinrs covering battery materials and mining/ processing, most metals are breaking ATHs & are in a supply shortage plus theirs higher costs due to energy, transportation, etc Even if we secure lithium, nickel, iron, manganese for the cathode- Graphite is irreplaceable as the Anode* Alot of KZbinrs project millions of EVs but have no videos on the battery supply chain or include it in their forecasts. If you keep covering these your channel will grow very fast. Cheers!

Conversion of the massive trucks to electrical would be a good start & then the actual factory running on solar would help. Converting the acid base to a safe slurry after being used would allow a properly safe disposal or maybe alternate use. An electrical by hydrogen possibility would work better than batteries there as it is a mostly static infrastructure except for the trucks but they require only a relatively small travel & can be refuelled quickly as opposed to batteries. Again it's a relatively static operation with minimal distances covered just repeated many times per day.

Do you think that this kind of vertical integration (last seen in the times of Standard Oil and those monopolies) lends itself to price INCREASES, since the limited available minerals are snapped up by a single company, which will drive everyone else to pay more, and cause all vehicles to go up in cost?
@Alarix2462 жыл бұрын
I hoped I could see the clips of actual Goro mine, and I think I saw some of them here, yet, there were clips of other mines as well. So, how can I tell what I actually saw was directly relevant to the story, and what were unrelated clips of some other mines who knows where in the world? Then if I summarize it, my impression is that I am actually not sure what mining operations I actually saw. Which reduces the story to a narration with some haphazard clips with unclear subject. Could the clips be tagged so we know we see the actual Goro mine?

First time I heard of Tesla's "Vertical Integration Plan" of actually acquiring their Raw materials, for their batteries, internally! Awesome plan....as Tesla's ambition of going from 936,217 cars delivered in 2021 to about 20 million EV's per yr. in 2030 is over 1 order of magnitude of growth. You need your own Supply Chains, to make certain you can make enough batteries, to place in enough vehicles, to reach said goals of production.

Tesla and other EV makers have already demonstrated that LFP (lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries that don't use Nickel or Cobalt are a viable battery for EV's. These batteries don't have quite the same energy density as those that use Nickel, but they offer other advantages such as more charging cycles, faster charging, longer usable life AND they are much less likely to cause fires. Tesla should be focusing on advancing LFP batteries for EV's the way many EV makers in China are doing. I lived in New Caledonia for a few of my teenage years. I hope demand for Nickel and the mining for it won't scar this beautiful place beyond repair.
