I was there during the filming of this show. I’ve been going to Lala’s cafe for more than 30 years. The food is excellent and always consistent. When you go, just order the large Mexican plate , it’s the best! Thank you Mimi and Pauline for keeping Lala’s Cafe going!! 🙏

Used to go when I was a young boy in the 60's and early 70's when I would spend part of the summer visiting my grandparents in Alice Texas. They would take me there every other week. The people and food were amazing. I have great memories of those outings. My grandparents have been gone for nearly 30 years now. Next time I go to visit them I think I'll make that drive to Mirando City and remember some if the best days of my life.

Great reading this. I was born and raised in Alice in the 80's, and visited family in Mirando City for spring break. They had a large ranch with several fishing ponds. Best Time Ever! Always had to stop at Lala's!

It was 58 years ago and I was 16, never had I tasted Mexican food this good. Over the years I have told many people about this place. Back in the day there was no running water in the cafe and the spigot out back was on a pipe about 3 feet above the ground, I asked why and was told that it was a health department requirement to keep the dogs from licking the faucet. From the video, the inside of the cafe has not changed and the tortillas have the same puffiness I remember. Fond memories.

Thanks for sharing this. I was just thinking of LALA'S a few days ago. Haven't been there in forever more.The very best TACOS I've ever eaten in my 79 year old life. For me it's the TACO SHELLS. I could eat those with nothing in them, just a splash of lime. I pray that place stays around forever. A little preview of HEAVEN on Earth in my opinion. Thank You 😊❤

Oh my God!, I first went into Lila’s probably in 1966 or 67 as a young child. We always ate there before driving out to our hunting lease near Laredo. Some of the best Mexican food I ever ate in my life I had no idea it was still open. I’m gonna have to make that pilgrimage. I think grandma was still there when we first started going. Nobody in the world makes better taco shells than she does.

Non of this is real Mexican food and none of it represent real south Texas this is Tex mex
@figurinechamp68814 ай бұрын
Totally disagree. It is both Mexican and South Texas food. Why is that? Tortilla with meat is a foundation of Mexican food...how you top it or fill doesn't matter. Why is it South Texas food? It's been there since the 1960's. There was LESS restaurants in the world back then, and people ate out less. THIS is what I grew up eating at home, and I grew up in South Texas.
