A Scottish-born Australian, an English-born Australian and an American-born Australian come together to make one fantastic Australian sound. Barnsey ✅️ Farnsey ✅️ Diesel ✅️ Each on their own is fantastic, Together they're fabulous. I saw John Farnham in concert quite a few times and was always blown away. I went to so many Cold Chisel concerts when they were touring that it's ridiculous. Check out more Chisel. Also, The Angels stuff from the late 70s, early 80s. Huge band in Australia. Great to see live too.

John Farnham's octave range is A2 to G5. He can sing in just about any style. He is the ultimate showman and his stage presence is electric and charismatic. John is well-loved by his audience and they are with him all the way. His concerts are always sell-outs and he has been performing for six decades. At 72 he still has "The Voice" for which he is named. Always choose LIVE performances of John. Another fantastic Aussie FEMALE singer with a huge octave range and an incredibly powerful voice is Vanessa Amorossi. Check out her singing "Have A Look" and "Heroes Live Forever" LIVE.

You could perhaps do a Farnham week 😉 Freddy Mercury rated him as the best male singer in the world, and he turned down the opportunity to front Queen after his passing but has collaborated with them. There’s also clips on KZbin of Farnham with Coldplay, Ray Charles, and Celine Dion but my absolute favourite is the rendition of Amazing Grace he did with his backing singers. He’s a genuinely nice guy and I had a giggle at you guessing his trade from his name, he’s a plumber.

Perfect reaction. Just the right amount of "what the F are we hearing" and appropriate levels "why havent we heard of these guys before" You actually nailed it in one. Re what probably happened at Cold Chisel fist pub gig. At many of them actually. I've seen it. 🤣 Jimmy was a very wild child in his early days. But we love him for it....a real true blue Aussie Bloke (even if he was born in Glasgow) I hope we get to see more of both Farnsey and Barnsey in weeks 2 and 3 ( I think your gonna have to add some more weeks in there to cover all our Aussie awesomeness) Vocally John has an amazing range ....check out his cover of Black Dog. As others have suggested his arrangement of Help with the Melbourne symphony orchestra is great and show off So.e of his range But You need to try this one first which is his signature song. You may even have heard it as it was huge in Europe and the UK...not so much in the US tho. YOU'RE THE VOICE m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ6VnpJvis6dqdE Another one that is spectacular. Long way to the Top if you wanna Rock and Roll. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHyWoap4Z6uiqtE And for Jimmy check out Stone Cold with Joe Bonamassa ... Other great aussie artists which i hope youll add to the list. Guy Sebastian, Tesky Brothers, Matt Corby, Delta Goodrem, Vanessa Amorosi, And thankyou for jumping ahead with this reaction.

Great job guys. 👍 Absolutely loved your reactions. It is common for the first time Farnsey reaction to be 5 seconds of stunned silence. After about the third, the often asked question is "why haven't I heard of this guy?" So, after all the feedback you would have worked out; week 1 is Farnham week, followed by Barnes week. I think you see the problem - two is not enough weeks!!! You may have heard Farnsey without realising it. One of his singles that actually escaped Australia is "You're the Voice". A lot of reactors realise they have heard it when they start playing. I expect there will be a common theme in the comments; Farnham - ONLY LIVE! The concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) was a classic, so anything from that. For a more recent band (to play in week 23!😉) - The Teskey Brothers. Josh Teskey has a killer voice. 🦘🦘🦘

The Australian pub rock era (1970s to early-1990s) was a notable time in Australian music history. Rock’n’roll music was a big hit in Australia in the 1960’s and Australian bands started to form, influenced by the music they heard coming from England and the United States. Around the same time pub closing times were extended from 6pm to 10pm and publicans thought it a good idea to host live music to attract patrons. The result was a cultural phenomenon in which live music was a regular feature at pubs throughout the land. Australian pub rock encompassed many different styles and sounds from blues to metal, punk, and pop-rock. There were opportunities for bands to travel the country and perform multiple times per week in pub rooms not designed for big PA systems. Popular bands garnered attention from record companies, radio, and television who often gauged a band’s popularity by the length of the queue outside the pub. By the early-90s the heyday of Australian pub rock was over; police targeting of drunken crowds, noise regulations, suburban gentrification, and the growth of in-home entertainment options saw the music in many pubs make way for quieter entertainment such as gambling machines. The 1990s saw a wave of Australian rock bands influenced by the pub rock of the previous decades and pubs continue to be important venues for smaller bands needing places to perform.

Great reaction 👍 You have open a massive rabbit hole with these 2 Aussie legends . You have too check out John Farnham’s cover of the Beatles classic Help and how he rearranged it . John’s rearrangement of Help has to be up there levelled with Joe Cocker - With A Little Help From My Friends when comes to other artists covering The Beatles. The live version of Help featuring the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra . Then there’s John Farnham signature song You’re The Voice which was massive hit even made the top 10 in the UK at number 6 in 1987 You’re The Voice version with MSO from the same concert is pretty fantastic . When ever you watch any clip of John singing You’re The Voice watch the microphone stand antics he give it a caning on stage throughout the late 80s 90’s .

I've been told Diesel is very shy, and didn't want to front a band. If you see a video of a solo live performance of his, he's definitely up there in his own right with Farnsey (John Farnham) and Barnsey (Jimmy Barnes). If you ever see the official music video of When Something is Wrong With My Baby, Diesel is always shown from behind, in a shadow silhouette, or with his face hidden behind a lighting stand, despite sitting at the same table - loaded with whisky - with the other two. John Farnham was poised to go huge in the USA, but decided he hated touring away from his family for so long, and never toured outside Australia again. He also had some severe health problems (bowl cancer?) and retired after a final tour. He went into remission, came back, the cancer came back, he did another final tour. This process repeated at least once more, and "Johnny Farnham's Final Tour" became a national joke. Since he was keeping his health problems private at the time, the cynics among Australia decided Farnahm was milking the public for all they were worth with bogus "Final Tours". Like a rug shop that was ALWAYS "on Sale". What's amazing is that we still have both Farnsey and Barnsey performing in their early 70s now. Farnham has only *just* lost the high notes out of his natural range a couple of years ago, and Barnsey can't last through an entire concert without dropping off in quality. But when you get either of them to do a single song live, they *both* still sing exquisitely. They both have THE best home equipment and contacts among Australia's best musicians and backing singers who are soloists in their own right, and have given us top music live performances produced at home during covid. Australia is blessed. Edit: I'm sure you've heard of Australian Tim Minchin, but if you've never heard it, you HAVE to react to the virtuoso jazz-rock-classical piano surprise that is Dark Side (Awesome Version)

Very late to your excellent entertainment. Born in Sydney at Malabar 1961. Went to all the pub rock bands in the mid 70s-late 80s. Parents 10 pound Poms / Cornwell. Went back for to the UK 1990s and love The Thamesmen references universe. "Will Bea Smith finally get her comeuppance?" But first put on the jug and enjoy Thamesmen. Old now and back in Sydney now. Great memories. Anyone yet mention MiSex. (Ultravox name). Computer Games? !978. A bit of early Aussie electro.

Thats not quite true. Johns range is A2 to at least G5 (think Gesthemane) in full voice which is 2.9...but he gets much higher to G6 with the screams eg. in black dog and others. Which brings him to 3.9 octave Jimmy is documented F2 to B#5 including the screams which is 3.3 octaves any ways. Either they are both magnificent singers Watch them singing When the war is over together ...

@@carolynh8866 agree and it’s also not just about what note a voice can reach- it’s the power the voice can sustain at that particular note (think chest voice, head voice and falsetto) and also the tone and vibrato while holding those high notes. I also love them both. John has more classic vocal skills, Jimmy has more soul imo.

Well ... they both call themselves Aussies and John was Australian of the Year several years ago. But John's a Pom and Jimmy a Scot, came out when they were both young (like the Bee Gees and Olivia Newton John) and made names for themselves. We love them to bits. They are just amazing performers. John is the better singer IMO and has been around decades singing his heart out. Jimmy has more of that hard core vocal but still has a great timbre to his voice. We are lucky they are both down-to-earth guys not interested in fame but in performing.
