@mas-udal-hassan9277 That’s not the correct adab to ask the question. Have you watched the podcast? She addresses feminism in it? Also the hadith you mention has to be brought together with all the associated texts on the matter, and that requires a mujtahid to outweigh and understand the evidences. You cannot act, without knowledge, on a solitary hadith. Our deen it based on a rich history of scholarly interpretation. Scholars have written books on the subject of living with non Muslims in non muslim lands after evaluating all of the evidences.

@@alliyahsgalaxyin some countries, being Muslim is tough due to the pressure and oppression. Brave is not a wrong term to use for those Muslims especially the reverts. It does not help, to discount their bravery in facing the challenges in following Allah's law. Let's not patronise please, especially if we're not on the receiving end of oppression. Let's pray for them to be steadfast in their faith in Allah.

Yes, that is true. But in the West, ie where Lauren Booth comes from, the UK, we are free to wear the hijab most places. Maybe an odd remote village here or there may be difficult. I would say wearing it in India now is very brave, and also Chinese Uyghur's etc. So yes, you could say it is brave. I ultimately see it as a blessing either way from Allah. And of course, we don't have any societal ills amongst us Muslims? Unemplyment, underemployment, lack of education, sexual abuse hushed up, cousin marriages, denying women basic rights, involvement in crime higher than our proportion of the UK population. I could go on. Best not to point fingers at others because two other fingers will point right back.

@fabs8498
@fabs8498 Жыл бұрын
Millions of french muslims in France don't want abaya in school. Because they are french like jews or christians and understand the laws. A few young girls didn't understand. They had an explaination and accept. The father of one refused. He went to school and said he was hoing to kill them. A few months ago a teacher was beheaded by the familly for a lesson about freedom of dpeech, Why abaya is a political outfit in France ? It's not a traditionnal outfit from north africa but middle east. During the 10 years of civil war in algeria the FIS committed murders, massacres, attacks and obliged women to wear abayas. In France it began at the same time that djihadism. Woman can wear abaya in France but not in school. Because it's religious. They have to do Like jews or christians or buddhist or other muslims. No teligion in a republic school. Or parents can choose a private school.

Muslim intellectuals 😂 Good one 👍🏾 Ablutions (Wudu') (13)Chapter: The going out of women for answering the call of nature(13)باب خُرُوجِ النِّسَاءِ إِلَى الْبَرَازِ Sahih al-Bukhari 146 Narrated `Aisha: The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place (near Baqi` at Medina) to answer the call of nature at night. `Umar used to say to the Prophet (ﷺ) "Let your wives be veiled," but Allah's Apostle did not do so. One night Sauda bint Zam`a the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ) went out at `Isha' time and she was a tall lady. `Umar addressed her and said, "I have recognized you, O Sauda." He said so, as he desired eagerly that the verses of Al-Hijab (the observing of veils by the Muslim women) may be revealed. So Allah revealed the verses of "Al-Hijab" (A complete body cover excluding the eyes).
@ankhmorpok1497
@ankhmorpok1497 Жыл бұрын
There were a series of statements from the lady about Muslim women's experiences that are far from reality. There is a reason there is a Western-inspired move to give Muslim women more rights over family life, work, inheritance etc across the Muslim world and not the other way of the West cloistering women at home and discouraging them from working as many of our Mullahs want.

I’m a white woman of European decent, born in America. When I converted to Islam 18 years ago now, I just had enough with everyone’s problem with me being Muslim and wearing a scarf on my head, so I immigrated to the Middle East. I don’t have time for Western culture dictatorship over my body and what I wear. If they want to punish me because of what I wear, like not give me a job and just make life hard on me, they can have their Western culture. However, I do find it interesting when I see tourists from the West come over here to the Middle East and have no respect what so ever for our culture, traditions, and Islamic ways. Westerners are dressed in ways that people here find insulting or shocking. The West wants everyone in the world to be like them, act like them, dress like them, talk like them. No thank you West, not interested!

As a by born and practicing Muslim I often think about what the world needs to be like for Muslims if we start to protest or fight against the oppression of those who are playing nasty games against us only to dominate us and destroy our societies across the world, looting muslim countries resources by using violence/proxy wars in the name of terrorism or some kind of political ideologies. Then I realize that our beloved Prophet (PBUH) said that his there will be times when his Ummah the Muslims would face tremendous oppressions and crucial challenges by the non believers yet we the Muslims will achieve the highest level position in the world after fighting against all the oppressors and would also be able to establish peace/stability across the world by the grace of almighty Allah.

Condemned ? But it's our culture of intrgration which is different that yours. If I go in a muslim country I accept the rules. Foreigners who come in France have to adapt themselves like 15.000.000 of french muslims who are against abaya in school. Abaya is not a outfit of north africa but was imported by the terrorists who comitted massacres during 10 years in Algeria, before coming in France with the same influences for djihad, women outfits and so on. A few month ago a teacher was brheaded in front of his school a lesson about freedom of speech. The last week the father of one of the young girl wearing an abaya wanted to kill an employee of the school. Do we have to change our laws for a little minority of foreigners ? NO Do we have to accept religious violence ? NO Do we have to forget 500 victims of attacks, murders ? NO Do we have to protect apostats or gays victims of the muslim communauty ? YES French have not to change. You can't come in a country to take some advantages without looking at what don't please you. If you support islamism go away very far from Europe. And as french christian I am happy to ear some muslims explaining concretly their point of view as citizen for social and political peace than a religious speech explaining to young girls they don't have to agree to the laws of their country.

In other words if you wear a long skirt and are a muslim you can be banned but if you do it and are a fashionista no problem. Our girls are desperate. We can still order ethnic skirt in the hope that the accusation of racism is more infamous than that of islamophobia that is almost a praise for patriotism

Can we please cut some slack to those of us who are Muslims and don’t wear headscarves? We’ve fought many barriers to get where we are and continue to do so. My work involves a form of community outreach and the Muslim/hijabi women are just not interested in engaging with me/us. In fact, some of them have a sort of arrogance whereby people like me are looked down upon because I choose to work and they’re at home raising their families, as if I’m not! Also, please don’t forget- we are a religion of intentions, so headscarf or not, we’ll be judged according to what’s in our hearts and how we act vs wearing an item of clothing and pretending we’re holier than though.

I treated myself to 2 beautiful extra large Shayla hijabs and some very nice under caps that are rather upmarket but will actually fit my thick hair and big head (thick skull, not large brain 🤪 ). Because the mass-produced under caps from China are utterly hopeless for a big Crow Indian woman!! I look ridiculous. I have never understood why Muslim women are targeted with the hijab? ALL religions advocate covering your hair, not just for women, but for men too.

Muslims are targetted because Hijab is seen as a symbol of Islamism; a political ideology seen as the enemy of the West, and also by most Muslim governments.

Head covering of women's hair was first written into law by the Assyrians in 13th Century BC to make women pious... this would predate Islam, Christianity etc.

My advice to sisters: do not depend on a strong sister like her to always take the lead. Many hands make light work and can be much more productive. Each of you have the ability to do what she is doing. My advice to the brothers: be men again! Stop throwing the women out front, constantly having to defend themselves and our religion. If our "so called" leaders ie: imams, scholars, community leaders are satisfied with being meek, weak, soft and apologetic then demand more from them or get rid of them! So many have become pathetically out of shape physically and mentally, that I question whether they could defend themselves, leave alone their families. Sounds harsh? Too bad! Grow thicker skin! Toughen up! Get into the gym! You want to lead our Ummah? Then lead it like a man and stop being human marshmallows .👊

As always in France, the law goes touch much larger than what is actually advertised for. In this case not only abayas are prohibited but all clothing that covers the arms. Last week girls in kimonos were refused home and their parents were called. Girls with long sleeves T-shirts too. Girls with the same pieces of clothing were scrutinised to guess which of them were wearing them for religious reasons and then exclude them. On these grounds only, this law should be fought in courts for discrimination. The situation is just ridiculous!

Living in a non-muslim country where I can freely choose and live in our society as a Muslim woman, I wonder of the experience of hijabi travellers (for business and leisure reasons) to these places that have these anti-modest, anti-Islamic-wear etc. policies.

The dignity that us middle aged, and also older women, are given in Islam is the same as in our Native American tribes. 💖💖💖 I am an Auntie now too. This is not recognized by Western secular culture but now I am a Muslim so that doesn't matter any more.

43:26 At this point, I think this discussion really addresses and solves all the contentious and controversial topics for Muslims living in the West - coming to beautiful, sound, and Islamic conclusions 🎉 This is more rare than it should be! Allahumma barik.

It was good to meet you in person. Your viewers ought to know that the Thinking Muslim is not just the competent podcast host you see here but also a very generous Muslim. He left early a table of over ten heads at a restaurant in Istanbul, including some leading Anglophone scholars, having settled the bill alone surreptitiously. More guest suggestions: 1. Prof. Hayrettin Yücesoy at Washington University in St. Louis, author of "Disenchanting the Caliphate: The Secular Discipline of Power in Abbasid Political Thought" (Columbia UP 2023) 2. London-based Azhar graduate, Sheikh Mohammed Nizami. His writings on contemporary Muslim affairs can be provocative but insightful.

May Allah bless Lauren for her courage and enlightened frankness to present the plight of Muslims from the perspective of a highly-educated convert to Islam. She comes across to me as nothing less than a Margaret Thatcher in hijab. "Progressive" and Feminist Muslim women can profit much from her because most are only just embarking on a similar if not the same modern trail that she has long sampled, mastered and, I believe, grown tired off on the rebound ! Kudos to Thinking Muslims and all in their team !
