Pink Pony Club was inspired after Chappell went to her first gay bar in West Hollywood and saw the gogo dancers. It’s supposed to be like an anthem for the lgbt+ community. Also, she’s from Missouri, she just said Tennessee in that song bc it sounded better. lol

I literally cry when I hear good luck babe and pink pony club (I told you so and girls and boys can be queens) just melt me. I saw her live in concert and she blew the roof off, my voice is raw from yelling, she speaks out loud in her show that everyone is welcome, no matter who or where they are. She says she wishes she had this community when she was 14. She is lightning in a bottle live, such an amazing voice. I cried at her concert, if you follow her story her dreams were crushed, youtube singles at 14, got a label and dropped in like a month. Had to rebuild and work odd jobs. All signs points towards a flop, but she persevered when I would not have, and now she is huge with a diehard fan base.

i think the reference of her mom calling her a “pink pony girl” is that there’s a club in Tennessee back home where her mom is called The Pony and it’s aesthetics are hot pink. so basically her mom is saying “what have you done? you’re a literal stripper now” at least that’s my theory

Chappel is amazing. All of her shows are themed! And she invites local drag queens to open her shows. And she donates part of the money to local charities and the charity "for the gurls". She has also been raising money for palestine and raising awarness. She gives back to the queer community in so many ways. A part two would awesome. Casual, california, coffee and kaleidoscope especially will have you in tears. But naked in manhattan, femininomenon, super graphic ultra modern girl, guilty pleasure, and after midnight will bring the mood right back up. Also watch some of her tiktoks shes hilarious. Oh and My kink is karma live is a different world. Just watching her preform that song live even recorded makes me gay panic. Shes incredible.

New subscriber based on your reaction Bill. As a 40 yo gay man living in Boston but from a VERY small town, I had the exact same reaction to Pink Pony Club. It means something to so many queer people, but mostly it just touched on my gayest heartstring that even if our family is accepting (which mine is and was), there is so much fear instilled in us and that fear is so bonding. It takes serious courage to be who we are and it’s so beautiful to hear someone write how my heart feels all these years after coming out. Bless you, Chappell Roan, and kudos to you, Bill, for being super vulnerable. 🫶🏼

As shared before in the comments, the Pink Pony Club is not a specific place, Chappell made it after her first experience at a gay bar. I can't remember where but since having a boom in popularity, she has said that she's made each and every concert of hers the Pink Pony Club, she has local drag performers open her shows, each show has a particular theme that she announces online a few months before, and her audience is predominantly queer people. I was lucky to go to one of her shows before the "big boom" (just two weeks before Good Luck Babe released and her Coachella show). It was truly magical and felt like such a safe place to let loose, have fun, party, and unapologetically be myself.

I listened to 'Pink Pony Club' before seeing the video, so I already knew that I loved the song, but watching the video, ESPECIALLY when the Drag Queen and Leather Boys showed up shattered a part of myself that had been walled in for a bit. Queer Joy as self love as an act of Rebellion is so, so, so important and I think it's one of the few forms of Queer expression that gets ignored, but it's so important and also knowing that the video is 4 years old makes it all even better.
