in the chapter 3 part you were confused as to why we see the red face demon at all, it's because he's a higher up in terms of the power level of entities in the further, the other demon we see, the man who can't breathe, gets defeated by elise right? So not only is that part of the further that the man who can't breathe had control of/ruled over/controlled now open to be claimed by another demon, like red face, but elise could have potentially taken out one of red face's partners or subserviants way before he ever knew about dalton basically i'm trying to say that red face has every reason to go after elise after she helps quinn take out the man who can't breathe

The reason the third movie has that jump scare with the Lipstick Faced Demon is because its showing where it came from. The demon was originally attached to Elise i think and the reason that scene where she opens the door and sees Dalton fall off the ladder is explaining how the Lipstick Faced Demon even got to Dalton in the first place. Dalton hears that creaking noise which is the noise that the demon makes and that's how it got through. It was stalking Elise and went through the door she opened once it saw Dalton and thats what leads up the first movie.

Blair witch never showed the monster not because they were being clever but because of a complete accident. When heather is screaming “what is that” as she’s running, she was originally supposed to show a creature running towards her, but the actress didn’t know that was supposed to happen and got truly scared and missed the shot.

I think the idea of Elise leaving the red door open is a cool as fuck idea. I see it as she obviously opened that red door by accident. In leaving it open, she's let spirits from the further go through it and get Dalton. So I see it as she's responsible for Dalton going through what he went through in the first film by leaving the door open on accident. I think it's a fucking cool scene.
@ChrysusTV
@ChrysusTV Жыл бұрын
It seemed pretty obvious that the reason the prequel showed Dalton's door opening is because the door was left open. The whole movie constantly speaks about how Elise inadvertently opens doors for these demons and the demons can't enter without having the door opened for them. Her opening that door and leaving it open is just yet another of her pattern of accidentally bringing demons into the world and into people's lives. Was a really interesting and subtle way of showing _why_ the first movie happened in the first place. I guess if you got it then you got it and if you didn't, well...

I think the way they justify the jump scare ending of 3 is meant to be symbolised that the red demon followed Elise after her trip to the further in that movie. We know that he wants to possess the living so he could be hoping for a chance to try and possess Elise but since she tries to avoid going to the further, he just continues stalking her. When she opens that door, he realises that Dalton also harnesses the gift of astral projection and since he's a kid, it would be easier for the red demon to possess him, which is where the events of the first movie take up

21:50 That's exactly how I took it, and that's why the Lipstick-Faced Demon's appearance at the end of Chapter 3 makes sense and how to prequels more directly tie into the Lambert story. After Elise helps Quinn, she's followed back from the Further by the demon (Chapter 3), then while dealing with her childhood haunting, she opens the door to the attic (The Last Key), with the demon already following Elise, it was able to discover Dalton this way, and was able to lure and trap him in the further (Insidious) while leads to Josh being possessed by the Bride in Black (Chapter 2). I actually loved the subtlety with how they were tied in that way

Insidious 1 and 2 have many east Asian influences on them. That's why they feel off, weird or dated. I think most East Asians can agree to this. In many east Asian myths, beliefs and culture it is believed that entities can take the form of your loves one's and come live at home with you. The astral plane that Dalton and his father goes to is a parallel to shamanism. I think James Wan just changed a couple things to make it more palletteable to western audiences. Some things are original, but I'd say at least half of parts 1 and 2 were heavily influenced by east Asian myths and beliefs. After insidious 2 James Wan stopped working on the series. It became more mainstream and a more western style or horror. More jump scares and cliche horror movie tropes, etc. The east Asian horror makes you feel like the demon is slowly invading your life and taking your loved ones away one by one. It's supposed to make you feel like you can't trust anybody. You don't know if you're just thinking too much or if a demon is actually in your presence. It should leave you you a sense of dread. It will not always end with a happy ending, but with more a lesson. If we're comparing these movies like it's food then east asian horror is like Wasabi where you don't taste the spice in the front of your mouth but when you swallow it then all of a sudden it's burning the back of your throat Western horror is more up in your face, plot twists, dramatic effects, but typically always ends up with everybody happy. Compared to the east asian horror tropes, this is a sour patch kid where it's sour at first but the more you chew on It the sweeter it becomes.

@DizzyEyes94 Жыл бұрын
With regards to 3 and 4: the aspects most focused on seemed to be the themes of grief and generational trauma. The 4th ESPECIALLY considering Elise's father's influence over her hesitance to continue her trade; the disconnect between her and her brother; the way her father was possessed by a demon that seemed intrinsically linked to the penitentiary attached to his home, at which he worked as a CO. The headier concepts he started going into were VERY valuable to horror stories in this era of broken families and excessive death.

Favorite horror franchise for 1 and 2. (Didn't like 3 or 4. You could feel James Wan's absence.) -The woman or bride in black is a thousand times creepier than the red demon. -Favorite jump scare was the face behind the curtain when the mother goes to check on her baby. -The other frightening scenes were in The Further: e.g., The woman who shoots her family and then freezes with that smile on her face. No one in the movie Smile can compare.

But i agree it takes alot of work and dedication to make a good prequel that is not just a prequel in name only.

I've got this info from czsworld's horror history. The reason that the red face was in the cliffhanger in the third movie because the red face seen an opportunity to take Elise's body and it seem to him that it is much easier since she has the ability to astral project and stuff so he followed her around but after she left that door open, the red face realize that Dalton is a much easier target and can astral project as well. I think its pretty cool but i should also admit that it is quite very convenient reasoning hahaha

Might just be me but I honestly enjoyed The Last Key way more than chapter 3, it actually felt like an insidious movie again and the twists it gives throughout really gets you invested in the story, even if the stakes aren’t that high, chapter 3 felt like a total departure and just disconnected from what we grew to love about the first 2, The Last Key felt like it did as good of a job as it could giving us a movie that didn’t have to rely on pointless jump scares to keep you watching, hopefully insidious 5 does a good job continuing the story because a follow up with the characters from 1 and 2 feels like what chapter 3 should’ve been

I think bringing back the whole OG fam and focusing on them again is the way to go, like you said it could flop but I missed them and I’d like to see how it goes. I’m hoping for the best and I bet Patrick will kill it I’m just hoping rose is shown as much as possible

As to why insidious 1 scored so low I have a possible explanation. IMO The movie's downfall was putting so much focus on the actual rescue mission itself at the end where the movie stops being a subtle fantasy horror and it just becomes an action movie. We now see the demon crystal clear and it's so goofy now when earlier on we saw him in a dream as a shadow pointing at dalton and it was genuinely so scary. In the ending it's just naked darthmoul in its studio. We see some reeaaaaal crappy special effects too even for back in the day in a movie that didn't need them at all. In general, the further also overstays its welcome a little too much as well. I actually thought the explanation of what's happening to dalton was fantastic, it's one of the few times a movie explains the supernatural so well (another favorite being the shinning) because they don't do the over professional explanation, which often comes off as ridiculous (the vagul from sinister). It's just "I call it the further, the place you go when you dream" it's bonechilling and mystical and so scary. But when the entire final sequence takes place in the further it just stops being that interesting, again, especially when we see darthmoul's chilling in his studio. The second one is just the story of the spooky lady, no one cares man. It was okay but far less interesting.

I binge watched the movies in chronological order 3,4,1,2 and then went to the movies to see the 5th one and it made way more sense doing it that way. Also yeah that jump scare got me, but nothing scared me more than the Sinister jump scare with “Bughuul”

@@shan.69 omg same! It’s something about the soundtrack that just plays with my mind. But I give it 10/10 because it just WENT with the movie. Every scene, especially the tapes, the score was amazing. Whoever the composer was did their thing on that!

Something about horror that leaves a lot to your imagination just hits different. That's why I think ps1 horror games hit so hard. The graphics were so blurry that it was hard to tell what you were even looking at.

For the 2nd movie, after Elise dies, her spirit and Tucker and Specs go to another family. In that family, the elder daughter is in a wheelchair and looks very passive, and Elise tries to talk to the girl, but she doesn't react. Then, Elise hears the creaky sounds made by the red face demon, meaning he came after the girl, after Dalton is saved. The last one and the first one connect because Elise forgers to close the red door connected to the Lambert attic, but in the Further. In the real world, Dalton hears the demon and the creaking sound it makes, but can't see him, or the red door.
