This young girl is suffering from an extremely large, painful wart on the side of her heel. The patient is autistic and very sensitive, so today we will be surgically removing this huge wart.
CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE AND BECOME A TOE!!!
bit.ly/2IdiKpJ
After discussing the different options for warts, we have decided to surgically remove it since the area is extremely painful to touch.
It is so painful that she doesn't want anyone touching it, even when you look at it she pulls away. It won't be easy to treat topically, so we will be removing this wart with a more aggressive treatment.
Bye, bye huge painful wart.
Love,
The Toe Bro

I’m so impressed with your bedside manner with this child and her parents. Taking a non verbal child to any kind of doctor is so stressful for the parents, the way you thought on your feet was so refreshing and pleasing to watch. My non verbal 13 yr old daughter needs five people to pin her down for an injection and the whole ordeal is heart wrenching every time!! I wish there were more ‘aware’ doctors in this world, but well done on a swift procedure.

Nikki Bentley Is My Angel Most times when people say someone is nonverbal and autistic, it doesn’t mean they’re mute. It means they can’t really communicate verbally, especially not the way we want them to. I work with a nonverbal child. She talks, but she really only says “mama” and “book.” She mostly uses her hands, or we’ll let her walk around so she can go to the area/thing she wants.
@thanatos8214
@thanatos8214 4 жыл бұрын
Nikki Bentley Is My Angel No, that’s what it means by definition. But in a literal sense and how it’s often used towards those who are on the spectrum, it usually means they are not verbal in the way society would like them to be.

It's an amazing feeling when people take the time to understand such struggles. For me the issue is being extremely sensitive to sound. Friends love to joke that I have Vulcan hearing, but it's agonizing at times. Best option has just been not to react very much to loud noises, although no less painful.

I was diagnosed with autism at 13 I’ve had bad experiences with elementary school teachers one teacher called me “retarded” I didn’t know what the word meant at that time but when I realized what it meant it made me very sad I’m 17 now and I still get the “you don’t look autistic” which makes no sense like how is someone supposed to look autistic? But I’ve learned to cope with my differences and now use my difference to educate others about autism

Humans are actually very very strong but our brain doesn’t let us use our full potential or we will really damage our bodies or die. I think that, as we get older, we learn to show physical restraint. Kids usually just let it all go, and when you don’t care, that’s when the real strength comes out. And imagine, that’s within the confines of what our brain allows us to do!

Truth be told, this was the ONLY way to do it😪😓😢_ I can guarantee to the Dr that he didn’t feel good doing this. I kinda wish that they maybe gave her twilight sedation for this? I'm autistic too, it's a disorder of fear, things that most people can deal with, our brains register as life threatening. When an autistic person is reacting in a way that may seem "dramatic" to you, it's because their brain is telling them they are in extreme danger. The fear, the discomfort, the feeling that your mind is working against you can not be put into words. Thank you for being so kind and patient with her, a lot of people wouldn't have been. ♥️

Thankyou for that explanation. My son has either borderline aspergers or anxiety syndrome but does not fit fully jnto either category.. I had no real understanding until he started to tell me more and he is now 22, I knew he was shy and could not get the school to do proper tests for dyslexia and autism. Your explanation has really given me more understanding.. thankyou.. When he was young he would scream and tantrum and destroy rooms, but because he seemed distressed rather than angry I would either cuddle him or sit with him until he could make sense of the world.. everyone told me i was doing the wrong thing, but i wanted him to feel secure, all these years later i am so pleased j followed my instinct and what I was seeing.. fear and distress.. About the same time we were going thro a divorce.. my husband was a jekyll and Hyde..

This video has made me emotional. My younger sister has autism and an intellectual disability, and this video made me wish you worked in Australia. I constantly worry about how others treat her, and this warmed my heart. You did such an awesome job communicating with her, giving constant positive praise and reassurance that you were just holding her foot, engaging with her, acknowledging her likes and interests and the quick job overall. I am also a speech therapist and think you did such an amazing job. My two cents, I make a lot of social stories and use visuals to help my sister and students understand more of what is happening to them and their environment. Even having a timer visual timer to let her know roughly when the procedure will finish, or a visual timetable. Adding predictability to let them know it will finish, when it will finish, and what is coming up next helps a lot to ease anxious thoughts and behaviours. Definitely subscribing. Thank you.

As the parent of a special needs child, I think you did a wonderful job working with expectations and directions with the parents and talking with the child. A lot of doctors forget to communicate with the child and try to bond with them just because of their special needs. It takes special people to be able to work with this population and to do it well, and you definitely have this gift. Bravo to you!

Most of the crying is from fear and reflex. She knows her heal hurts when people touch it, so she doesn't want it touched. More than that, for some of us with autism touch hurts. I used to be in her spectrum, unable to fully communicate or communicate properly... It was hard work through many years to help me be able to express myself and what's going on inside. Now I use that experience to try to help those not on the spectrum have some knowledge of being inside of that. I still have a lot of issues with it, written word is easier than speaking, at least beyond parroting superficially. I still have many issues with touch being painful due to hyposensitivity, noises, lights... I still have all of the issues to the same degree as before, I'm just better at hiding it to blend in and make people less afraid of me. Luckily I have a good support system of people like me, so I can drop the "normal" facade around them and be myself (which takes way less energy).

Dealing with a special challenged child calls for kindness & patience from the parents and the chiro-podiatrist … even if it means giving her favorite starburst candy to distract her. It takes full understanding & consideration from those watching. Toe Bro videos such as this is quite very educational.
