It’s not inflamed sweat glands smh it’s hair follicles around the sweat glands that become inflamed because our immune system thinks something is wrong.

It's gotta be hard for her dad, too. I'm sure he *has* emotions, he just can *express* them for whatever reason. Maybe it's a natural part of his temperament. Maybe he was condition to bury his emotions under a couple yards of concrete. The latter is pretty common among men who grew up in certain sub-cultures and at certain times. The former is also pretty common among some segments of the population. I grew up around a lot of Germans in a family where depression was a common problem, so I've seen this sort of lack of emotional expression a *lot.*

@@brigidtheirishas someone who’s dad forced both me and my mom to close off our emotions like this, I can confirm that I feel extremely bad for not being able to express properly things sometimes. My friends have pointed out that I make extremely expressive gestures when I talk and just when I move in general and I believe it was my childhood last chance at making it so I could still express my emotions in some way. Me and my mom are recovering and I moved out of his house when I found out his full extent of how he treated my mom when they were together, but this comment of analysis you made hit close to home.

It’s not from weight, smoking or what you eat- these things can sometimes help the flares but it’s different for everyone. I wish Amber nothing but the best, I wish I could give her a huge hug. There’s a group on Facebook that has given a lot of support but there is also a lot of pain with this condition and not just physically. I see it as disrespectful at the very least. That's why the "4 months" was mentioned, so we will know the kind of people in her life.

Dearest Amber 🙏❤️ You just are a loving Young Woman.. The skin problem isn’t You, know its easy for me to “say”.. But You’re such a beautie in so many ways. And You have this little Wonder of a son. And your dad I’m sure, will be there for You. Your MOM would be proud of You for asking for help. And help You got. So Wonderful ..❤️❤️❤️

I spent a significant chunk of my later research career on HS. I analyzed large portions of affected human skin looking at various immune markers, hair follicle markers, and other related skin markers. That data is published. Biggest lesson learned is that it's a horribly painful condition with limited treatments and high variability.

I had a cyst on my right arm. First time we noticed it was when I was in 4th grade. I was bowling and it popped out a bunch of blood and pus. It refilled and popped periodically until I was 31, when it did it's final pop, and the seed came out.

my heart really does break for amber. i have HS as well and i don’t think anyone who doesn’t have HS realizes how PAINFUL hs really is. and of course the doctors ALWAYS blame it on the weight because they said my weight was the problem. but it turns out it’s actually passed down. parents were a carrier and you end up with HS .
