Everyone else will make a face, start to gag, complain about the taste, complain about the burn... and then there’s petite little Ciara who throws em back like it’s nothing but water. And it makes it look even more manly when everyone is dying and she’s like ooh delish, I think I’ll have another. Blanco - not aged, bottled immediately Gold - not aged, with color and flavor added Reposado - aged in wood for 2 - 12 months Añjeo - aged 1 - 3 years in wood Extra añejo - aged minimum of 3 years The wood is typically a type of Oak Tequila is made from agave thats been steamed. Mezcal is made from agave thats been cooked in an earthen pit with wood and charcoal.

Twinks I thought tequila was just a type of agave called blue agave. The rest was the same? Also tequila is technically a type of mezcal, just named after tequila Jalisco where it’s made. Kinda like cognac France.

@@dragonxdvzz correcto! Tequila is made specifically from the Blue Agave plant, and has a Denomination of Origin (Tequila, Jalisco). Mezcal can be made from any other Agave plant, and is produced all throughout the country (states like Oaxaca, Puebla, Durango, Guerrero, etc.)

Good job. I was going to explain it, but you did it first. I would only add that Patron is a top shelf brand, so it tastes way better than your basic brand, like Cuervo. Cheap tequila if for margaritas, top-shelf tequilas like Patron are for sipping... or shots while you are still sober enough to taste anything.

charmaine684 Tequila and Mezcal are different A tequila is specifically made with Blue Agave but is still Mezcal but not all Mezcal are Tequilas. Most Mezcal Tequila are really hard to find, Tequila are easier to find. Even Parton can be considered less quality vs a Mezcal Tequila in Mexico. That comes from marketing of Patron in 90’s. Also Añejo doesn’t mean it’s the best Tequila only Aged Tequila.

They don’t start with tequila because good tequila made from 100% agave is limited in production to the Jalisco region of Mexico. Most of that production is consumed Mexico and the US/Canada. What does get to Europe has substantial excise taxes added to it making premium tequila quite expensive. More than double in the US. So a bottle of Patron Silver cost like $80-$90 in the UK.

Silver or White tequila (“plata”) is aged in wax lined barrels; reposado is medium aged in oak, Añejo tequila is aged for a long time, similar to whiskey. Agave is a type of cactus (it might be technically a succeulent but they’re practically the same)

My brother (we are Mexican) married a beautiful Irish woman and their wedding was the best wedding I've ever been to. Both Heritage and culture are surprisingly similar. And thanks to the Irish, the Mexican army was able to defeat the French in the Battle of Puebla on may 5th. Drinking irish whiskey to Mexican songs and having the Irish dance to our music was amazing. It truly was a beautiful day.

As a Oaxaqueña who prefers Mezcal over other liquors, I can say that it is an acquired taste...it's not for everyone. The cream ones would be a good one to introduce them to first as they're smoother and easier to drink, plus they're sweet.

Martin, I went on a tequila tour when I was traveling In Guadalajara and I was informed that good tequila is meant to be sipped. The differing tequilas, be it the clear/añejo/reposado, are best paired with different foods to bring out the different flavors of the tequila.

The way I enjoy tequila (I live in México): 1. First, bake chocolate brownies with extra chocolate chips in a way that leaves them guey. 2. When the brownies are lukewarm, pour yourself a little tequila. 3. Take a brownie crump and a sip of tequila and KEEP EVERYTHING in your mouth. Allow both to mix. 4. Swallow slowly after at least 45 seconds. 5. Repeat. 6. Repeat. NOW you begin to get a sensual taste of tequila :o) NEVER EVER shoot tequila down your throat! You miss out on the true taste of every individual tequila! I place the brownies in the fridge and enjoy them with tequila for a few evenings.
