While I may not typically get a hangover from tequila, the next morning my kidneys feel like someone used them for a punching bag while I was sleeping. It's literally the only liquor that does that to me. Pretty frustrating, because I love me a good margarita

Grenadine is a pomegranate simple syrup basically. most stuff in stores is red sugar water that was made next to a pomegranate.

In Texas we've been drinking strong margs since the 60s when they became popular. The salt started because they were putting 3 or 4 shots in them in early days and no one drank them without mexican food.

@@katherinekoning3109...If you drink like a mad man, that's allot...but if you take your time over the course of a night out or whatever, it's not that much...it's science!...If you slam back drinks the alcohol hits you all at once and your body has a harder time absorbing and processing the alcohol...That's why you may notice that the same liquor affects you different depending how you drink it.

Thanks for doing the tequila sunrise. Two things to try another time. 1) Don’t stir it at all. Add the ice and OJ first, then the grenadine. 2) Drink it with a straw, wood is better than metal because of the OJ. That puts the drinking source near the grenadine which is the heaviest part of the solution so that it starts very sweet but gets more strong as you drink it. Sometimes made with a taller and narrower glass. Doing 1) will make it look more like a sunrise.

If you're gonna make a cocktail in a pint glass, you definitely need more than one shot. That why cocktails are usually served in tumblers or copper cups. Pints are for Mai Tais, Long Islands, Hurricanes, etc., as they contain multiple shots.

The salt is a hot climate thing. Fruits are always salted in warm places. Its because you sweat out a lot of salt and any replacement water needs to include electrolytes, there is actually a salt craving and so the salt actually does enhance the drink.

Sugar rim 100% I once ordered a white Russian, the bar tender made it with tequila instead of vodka. went a bit too heavy on the grenadine. tequila sunrise, in this order: ice, orange juice, tequila then grenadine. add the orange juice and grenadine slowly. i prefer mine not stirred because presentation. the grenadine will sink to the bottom so it will be red fading into an orange/yellow at the top.

My personal favorite Tequila drink/cocktail. Biggest glass you have, fill with ice. 2 shots of Tequila, fill the rest with bar lime. Fantastic summer drink. It's refreshing, and because the lime adds that sort of lemonade sour to it. You don't feel the need to slam it back but instead end up just sipping at it.

Don't worry, it was the exact same, just slightly less lime juice is all! The lime juice adds to the cloudiness 😊

@@Leviticusto most of the common brands are just okay. a handful are truly awful. the good stuff costs more, but the difference is noticeable. siete leguas is my favorite reasonably priced tequila, but I maintain that the best agave spirit is mezcal, which is its own universe.

Its sad that most people's experience with tequila is cheap tequila used for mixed drinks or shots because a real nice sippin' tequila is such a nice thing. Many years ago I had a friend who's uncle owned an agave farm on the Yucatan and he made his own tequila ... I'd put it up against the finest 40 year old whiskey you've got.

For someone who is interested: Tequila mixes with other drinks, the best mixes are from Mexico, like the "Palomas", the "Charro Negro" etc, etc, It's not just "margaritas" ask a Mexican for the best mixes, because that's where Tequila was born and only they know the best mixes.

I have been on a margarita kick for the last four years. The one I enjoy the most is the “Uptown” from Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. I always get mine frozen. Sadly it can never last long enough.
