I live in Hawaii, and like Tulsi said, there is no shelter for the public. When we got the False Missile Alert I was at work. I left work and headed home. I wanted to be with my family when it hit. I recall that case, must have been shocking. I 'm very sorry that you experienced it. My greatest fear as a kid (I'm 50) was that. We had a fire alarm in the school, everyone had to leave the building. The weather was very foggy, we could not see much up, and suddenly we heard fighter jets flying quite low over us. One of my classmates was joking: "must be Harriers" (the enemy side at that time). I was scared af, but fortunately no one realized what that could have meant. Then - fortunately - nothing happened. We never found out what that case was, there was no internet at that time yet, and it was not mentioned in the news (it was in Hungary, close to now Croatian border). Fighter jets (Russian built) were training over the whole country at that time (Migs, SUs), but usually not so close to the borders. Later I read about cases fighter jets chasing (without success) UAPs from that time over the country. Who knows?
