been a minute since I read the comics or seen the movies... but iirc he didn't lose his "adamantium claws and then replace them with bone claws". His claws were always bone, and all his bones were coated in adamantium. He got his bone claws cut off that were covered in adamantium. His regen abilities re-grew his bone claws.

My guess is that destiny itself put the passive ability / curse on him, that for being immortal, he is never allowed to be in a serious relationship, so he'll grow closer to anyone than Jean Grey. But interestingly, despite being the maybe most powerful mutant, Dark Phoenix doesn't seem to have a healing ability and was enjoying to torture Wolverine when he was approaching her; yet she seems to have been struggling to increase the her power in order to surpass his own healing ability which seems to be even stronger.

Wolverine is another superhero character that cannot be played by anyone else other than the actor who started it, Hugh Jackman. Just like Iron Man, no one else can play it like Robert Downey Jr. I loved it when Xavier and Magneto approached Wolverine in a bar and introduce themselves. Hugh Jackman just ad libs the line, "Go fuck yourself." and they keep it in. So funny.
