I've been wanting to make a Japanese Apron for well over a year now. I've watched a dozen videos or more, but always felt intimidated to make one despite the fact that I've been sewing for many years. I came across your video today, and it's the first and only one that explained the entire process in a way that I now feel confident to make my own. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your video, it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for, short of buying a ready made commercial pattern? My late mother-in-law had made me this apron when I was recently married. It got torn up because the pockets kept getting caught by the knobs on the cupboards. I couldn’t bring myself to throw it away, it was my favorite apron, but I couldn’t figure out how to make it? So thank you, thank you, thank you! You’re a lifesaver, now I can make some more for my grown daughter. This was her favorite apron too.

Fantastic tutorial and showed me exactly what I needed to modify my pattern into a 2-layer piece, most importantly how you did the 2 shoulder straps to look so cute and clean, thank you! (I cut up paper bags as well!) This is real similar to how I sew together 2-sided dog dresses, ha. I do the neck piece the same way, but I'd forgotten about that till now, I haven't made one in a couple years because out of the blue one day, my dog said, "You know, I'm not really into this anymore, can we stop with wearing the dresses?" and that was the end of that. I think the apron smock would look cute over a turtle neck shirt and jeans this winter.

This is so smart to design aprons that do not need to be tied behind our backs. As I got older, it became a struggle tying behind the back and I realized how impractical the typical style of aprons are.
@VeeVeeVeeV
@VeeVeeVeeV 5 ай бұрын
m.taylor: I also found that the strap around the neck on regular aprons, tends to pull down on the neck, making them uncomfortable to wear. This style of apron doesn’t do that. 🥰

Thank you for sharing. I only learned to sew during the pandemic and I do mostly quilts not garments. Thanks to your clear instructions, I was able to make my own, perfectly sized to me, very substantial, Japanese style apron in the fabric/s that I like. I am petite, 5'1' and most aprons are too long for me so now I don't need to buy, I can just make one when I need it. Thank you again.

Tiny and dense blanket stitch equals a button how stitch. Good Job. I know how to do it, but I do not want too. This is why I buy modern sewing machines. I do how pt make one of these soon and I appreciate the buttons. If I make the tails a litte longer and more button holes it could fit others or me in the winter with sweaters on.
