Brenda ,I am also adjusting to having a brain injury after accident.Noticing I need people around me who are kind and allow me to be me!Different me,but still me.Be patient and gentle with yourself. I have loss of vision which means adjusting and acknowledging my art is changing.But after a year of this different me;I want you to know you are beautiful,loved and even if you can look out the window and see nature,the nights,anything that fills your heart do that.Do you!I wish you well and though it sometimes feels impossible,don't give up!Society puts up many obstacles for those of us w "disabilities "(I prefer different abilities!)Sometimes I just colour(oil pastels are great forgiving and I like to blend w my fingers(I also broke my back neck face and head so can't do details!!!)BE kind to yourself and take note of any lil thing that brings you happiness and write them down so you can reread and remind yourself(even if it's just a few words or if u can't write a lil sketch)I had to talk to my ego on this one! WENDY!I haven't seen you for a while.Adjusting to life after brain injury and v reduced vision.My ability to create has changed from v intricate Celtic work to tearing up paper and glue!I got to the point of allowing myself to go back to being little Morgan who knew I was my happiest me when drawing and painting. I have bought some oil pastels!I'm so enjoying grown up finger painting! ☺.Having spent a year mainly in a dark room,I went to the woods yesterday (like you I feel the AUTUMN energy and I had tears of wonder at the beauty of it all.I am v blessed with a balcony with a view of Trees and a river.A little fox kept me company while I did my physio outside when I came home.I wanted to thank you so much for encouraging me to journal,(I was keeping them for "good")now I know that was silly and I am free creating.They remind me on days when pain takes over that there are good days and you gave me that idea.Not to keep them for lovely "outcome" art.I was sad I was out of action for the last full moon Wendy.Next morning(sunday) I opened my curtains to greet the day and The biggest beautiful full moon was in the morning sky!!!So I got my crayons,my journal,a few words.Now I have another lovely memory. I meant to tell you,you are looking so well and I got to visit and embrace my tree friend in the woods ,that's what recharges me in so many ways.I love the new big painting of you with the words in above video...about our thoughts matter.Congrats on the exhibition also!Thanks Ms Wendy🤗🧝‍♂️🦁

I have dreams of a more controled life but it seems to be pushed to the bottom of the list. My oldest daughter has moved in with her grandson whom she is raising. Reopening the antique store. I'm realizing just how much my abilities have changed with the passing of time and health adjustments. Life is good just different from the dreams I had while taking care of my husband. It's been a year since his passing and I am surprised at my reaction and the process of obtaining my life again. I so enjoy your insight to time and life control. How I nap...I lay down, make myself comfy, pillows under feet, soft blanket, I even have a cooling eye mask with lavender and mint, I allow my mind to just rest. I used YT to find some zen background music.I naturally just lay for 1 hour or so and feel so much better.

I also love the way you dance around, as I find dancing and music are my freedom things! I love your 'words matter' painting. As an experienced napper, I would recommend lying in bed, I always lie on my back to do this, and I have the intention of taking a lying down meditation. Often I fall asleep for 20 - 30 mins, and, if I don't then at least I've given my mind a rest.

That's wonderful. 😊 Regarding the "clear your clutter" section...I know that there's social pressure from the "clear your clutter brigade" (and I've felt it A LOT in my life) but honestly as long as your life is functional and you're not drowning under stuff why the need? Artists are traditionally collectors of interesting things. I love the look of your studio. When I visit someone's space (work or living) I like to see colour and interesting objects gathered from life - they tell a story. Obviously each to their own, and everyone has to live in a way that works for them, but don't feel pressured to conform to someone else's idea of how you should live. I love your style. Watching your videos is a joy - please don't feel pressure to streamline your life too much. 😊🙏

Wow what a beautiful video. I can relate to alot of what you say, in so many ways. My husband often says to me... LEAH YOU MATTER! It's not just about making everyone else happy and trying to do the right thing for everyone else. Sometimes you have to do what you feel is right for you. I think that life is about constantly learning. Not just about educating ourselves on our interests, but in life too. How we act or react to situations and what is meaningful to us or what we allow, to take too much emotionally or mentally from us. You are an inspiration Wendy and a beautiful person inside and out. I had an epiphany some years ago about my life and how it seems to not have much direction. I think it was after my Mom died. I had taken care of her the last three years of her life. I am the oldest of five and the only she wanted to take care of her; so, I got little to no help from my sibs. Thinking back to my childhood, I learned to put everyone else first. I stood in as the Mom taking care of my sisters and my brother. From the age of ten, I was my Dad's right-hand man on electrical jobs. I could get specific tools from his toolbox for him and grab wires he fished behind walls because my hands were smaller than his. So at this point in my life, it finally dawned on me that: I Matter. What I want matters--it always mattered--even though I was always told I had to think of others first. I don't know that I'll ever get there since I've been so conditioned. It would be nice to have training on it. I truly feel it's the reason why I start so many things and finish very few. I realized every time I started something when I was young, I'd get called away to help someone else just when I was getting immersed in whatever project of my own I was working on. So, I'm glad you said these very words. It proves to me it's the language and organic order of a Creative Universe. Thank you for this today. And, it was great to see you unpack your podcast award. It made me happy for you. You work hard on art and on sharing your experiences with us. You've empowered me several times over the years. Congratulations to both you and James. 🥂 ❤️

awesome award, well done. My go to music changes like my knickers LOL. From classics like Elvis to modern like Imagine dragons.and every thing in between. i have amazon music and created different playlists. My work list is full of heavy metal and songs that make me buzz. My sleep playlist is rain and beach sounds. Then there's the Christmas one which i love all year if Im feeling a little down . i take myself off and belt out classics like rocking round the Christmas tree.Yes im barmy . in the car i have a old tape deck as the car is 25 yrs old. Most the neighbourhood hears me going to work at 5.30am ,the music is always blaring out. I blame my parents for this. Having a good sing along is one of the best ways i find to lift my mood. Oh Wendy, you inspire me so... I have been following you since your online journey started and have watched you and James work together learning as you go. I've watched your Art evolve, and listened to your wisdom waffles. You have great beautiful changes coming and I feel privileged to join your journey here on KZbin. Blessings to you and James, so lovely! Your creative space looks amazing and so like you. Exploring a new direction with your art is just so exciting. I have been doing that too. For the first time in my life I am creating a body of work that I am completely happy with. Congratulations 🎊 on the KZbin milestone!!! Napping- Works better in cool weather: wrap a soft & cozy scarf loosly around your neck. It seems there's a "protection" accu-pressure point at the back of the neck, and also protects you from colds. Works for me!!! Happy Anniversary 🎂 !!!

Congratulations on your KZbin award! I'm so excited for you finding new energy and exploring new directions. Continue to celebrate the dance of life each day. I always say I don't nap (as I was taught that was only allowed for children); instead I allow myself a siesta, to recharge. Giving myself permission to shut down for a time is key, as I can let go of the jumble of thoughts then. I also try to focus in my head on characters and creatures sleeping and recharging, and allow those images to morph as I drift off. Sometimes when I wake, I have ideas for new art (bonus!). Thanks again for sharing your life with all of us; your excitement inspires me so much. As for songs, oddly, I have just journalled about "The Rainbow Connection" from the Muppet Movie, "Getting to Know You" from the King and I, and "Follow You, Follow Me" by Genesis. I'm wondering if your ideas fairy has been visiting the rest of us while you are sleeping, not giving 😘 up on you, just wanting all of us to share inspirational energy. I am wanting to make a lifestyle change as far as my diet. I am getting older and know that, with age, things slow down and fall (arms, butt, ourselves, etc). I have started to utilize my spice rack more when cooking and my meals have become more flavorful. I also want to be more active so dog walks have become longer. I also want to spend more time writing. I used to love writing. I'll be getting back to that. Your videos are relaxing and inspiring. Congratulations on your (KZbin plaque) achievement

Drink some sleepy time tea. If you don’t sleep that’s ok. But I’ll bet you just might fall asleep even for just minutes that would be ok.

Rest: take a note pad and writting utensel. To your resting spot. If anything heavys on you to do. Write down a few key words. Like a to do list. Just a couple minutes. No more. Then lay down, close your eyes and go through a meditation of clearing energy blocks. Then picture yourself doing your list. Oh and congrats on your award. You can use it in fungshui as a reflector too.

I too am a creature of habit and have noticed as I’ve gotten older (74) now that I do not like being around a lot of people and even when I am sometimes the atmosphere seems so loud that at times it is jarring. Not sure if others find this to be true. I loved your video as I do all of them but you staycation seemed to help you appear more relaxed. My sleeping/napping trick: 4 x 4 breathing. Get comfy, breathe in slowly to count of 4, hold the breath for count of 4, release slowly count of 4 and hold it for 4. The hardest part is when you’ve emptied your lungs and holding it. I imagine a square or box when I do this. I hope this helps you into dreamland.

Totally unrelated but I got so excited seeing that Dub Pistols poster when you were watering plants, haha! I got to play with them and Hybrid in Park City Utah like 2 decades ago and they were so awesome! Hybrid was a huge inspiration to me then and its music that still inspires today.
