It's part of our identity, something no amount of money can buy, no amount of trophies or awards that can be won. I am a life long Liverpool fan. Down the years I have seen some great players play for the club. Players such as Roger Hunt and Steve Gerrard to name just two. However, despite my allegiance to my club I have to say that for me Duncan Edwards was without doubt England's finest. I defy anyone to watch the video footage of this guy and find me a player who can be as powerful but also as graceful as 'Big Duncan'. Incomparable. A genius. Such deft control. The complete player. He was also humble. Football lost something very special when he passed away. Something very special indeed.

They mean so much when they come from fans of other clubs and one thing I've always noted with Duncan is there was and still is a lot of respect and love for him from fans across the country. The big message, as you say, is football lost world class talent the day that plane came down. Yes it was a horrific tragedy but the talent on board wasn't hyped up because of what happened. They were top class players. It'd be like something happen to the Barcelona side of a few years back.

ROLLING STONE How I wish I did. I have seen everything there is to see on him plus which includes Bobby Charlton's assessment of him as the greatest. There is something about his style of playvthat is unique. He has such deft control, such power, and elegance. Never seen anything like him. Supporting Liverpool I lived there as a child and moved back there in the 80s, for five years. Liverpool had some great players ....but they had nothing comparable to Duncan. .the closest to

Nice tribute, young man. I often wonder which of the English players who were killed in the crash would have been in the England team in 1966. Edwards would have been 29 then - at his peak, and even better, surely? People rave about Bobby Moore, but he wasn't in Edwards's class. Immense talent, and such a loss.

Mark, by far my fav video by you. A true United fan knows all about the clubs history. The good, bad and indifferent. Like yourself I'm third generation United and my grandfather, God rest his soul told my me that he was the greatest player he had ever seen. I honestly do think that is that horrid accident had never happened England and United would have been major champions for a good 10yrs! Lastly, as I'm a father now of a 4yrs old who is an out and out United fan, it is part of our duty to make sure the young fans learn the clubs history too and pieces like this can and will help them.

Soccer Box I don't believe that's true. If you grow up in a family of United fans or the first match that makes you fall in love with football, is a United match. You're a United fan, as long as you love the club through thick and thin. That doesn't mean I don't know who the Busby Babes are our clubs history, because I do know it and I know them. But that doesn't mean if I meet a fan who is unsure who Duncan Edwards is, they're a bad fan or a plastic. Like I'm not going to expect my grandchildren to learn of our 20th title. And just because it isn't history yet, doesn't mean it won't be.

Tom Finney was great and so too were Stanley Matthews. Duncan Edwards was compared to the best by the best when he played the best such as Real Madrid. This was before the crash. The book that Duncan Edwards wrote, Tackle Soccer This Way is the best for me. I love lots of books but his is the best. He died at 21and I love the book he wrote on football the most.
