How to Root the OnePlus Two

After all the hype the OnePlus One caused and the, not particularly large, but damn-loyal fanbase they achieved, they finally just launched a successor: the OnePlus Two.
Just like with the OnePlus One the idea was to put higher end specs in a device while keeping the price tag a few hundred dollars shy of the competitors (and just like the last time, what better way to create as much hype as possible than with the same invite-only system of purchasing and giveaways to gain invites), the OnePlus Two followed suit.
But while the hardware is top-notch on the OnePlus Two, the software, well, isn't. Instead of the popular third-party OS CyanogenMod (which sits on top of Android), they went with their own proprietary Oxygen OS (that also sits on top of Android).
And, as usual with most manufacturers, the custom skin UI they went with isn't quite as smooth as the old Cyanogen OS (or even pure Android). So, what can a new OnePlus Two user do? Well, you can root it.
Rooting is the process of gaining administrative rights on a device which allows you to then change system files to your heart's content. From removing bloatware apps that the manufacturer put on the device that you never use, to overclocking the processor, to, yes, changing the entire OS or custom UI.
Even though it might sound a little daunting, it's actually quite easy (and even easy to undo) so if any of the above sounds good to you, here's how to root the OnePlus Two, flash a custom recovery, and even flash a custom ROM --a zipped file with a new custom OS that you can change as many times as you want until you find one you love.

But when i click in 'Developers options', you say to turn on USB debugging, that in my phone don't are available to do, and also 'OEM unlocking' that don't appear in my phone like the video. Hey David, great tutorial. I have successfully rooted my OP2 with TWRP installed. When i rooted, the official ROM version for OOS was 2.2.0. And then patched with OOS 2.2.1. Since then I skipped v 2.2.1.2 hotfix, and waited for OOS 3.0.2. Since, its a rooted phone, the OTA doesn't work and then download the offcial ROM from OP website. And flash with TWRP. Everything work fine. As always though, the root was broken. Then the problem appears - the device wont boot to RECOVERY MODE!!! Power button + Volume down wont work, 'adb reboot recovery' wont work. It just stuck on the OnePlus logo. Any ideas??

Hey David, After the manual installation of SuperSU via Teamwin Recovery and after wipe cache/Dalvik and rebooting the phone my phone is only showing the boot animation for almost 10 mins now... is this normal.?? pls help.

There's no option to 'enable OEM unlocking'. I don't know if its related to the fact that when I try to update to Oxygen_14_1510112055 it says 'Installation failed'. I got the phone from Hong Kong based company so it might be dodgy, the reason I'm trying to root it is so I can get rid of their pre-installed malware. I tried the process anyway and it works up until the bit where one is meant to get a message saying the 'An unlock will erase all your data'. Command prompt says 'OKAY' and 'finished' but nothing happens on my phone. It just stays on the same 'fastboot mode' screen. Please help if you have any idea what's going on. Thanks.

Hey! So I'm confident I've installed everything correctly about step 3 on the ADB files. But there is just one problem. On the One Plus 2 Rooting folder where I need to copy and paste the 2 files onto adb, my files doesn't say ""recovery.img" and "SUPERSU.zip", it just says "recovery" and "SuperSU". Is this still the right process??

Okay so I tried it after rebooting and after the 4:30 mark, it wouldn't work:( Please help. I also have Windows version 10 so IDK if that makes a difference. I also noticed that none of my other files have ".exe" after them *sighs* The initial problem seems to start at :43 where my files do not have .img and .zip. After around 4 hours, I feel like since I"m signed in, that is somehow affecting my files because it automatically loads under the name of the file and part of my email onto it which is probably the reason it is extracting .img and .zip parts, but I don't know. So I logged out and tried again, but I still get the same result. I can download, but it's ALWAYS missing the .zip and .exe files along with the rest of the files I need it to work. I don't know how to fix this and if I find a way, it's probably gonna take me a whole day to figure it out or use a different computer... This is frustrating.

+laloweed the reason u dont have .zip .exe is because thats an option you have to turn on in windows 2 see them but dont worry they are .img .zip even though it does not show up

Hi Dave great video.. One problem for me. I followed everything exactly and its working up until the oem unlocking. I have turned on oem unlocking and usb debugger in the developer tools. I type adb devices into cmd prompt and it shows the device and serial number. Then I type adb reboot bootloader and the phone goes to fastboot mode. I type fastboot devices and it shows the phone and serial number. Then i type fastboot oem unlock and the phone does nothing it stays on the one plus screen. This is what comes up in cmd prompt after i typed fastboot oem unlock. C:\adb>fastboot oem unlock ... OKAY [ 0.004s] finished. total time: 0.004s Can you please tell me what the problem is. Im using windows 10 on the pc and the phone is running marshmallow with oxygen 3.0 shin on top. Thanks in advance Dave. Really appreciate the help.
