"A model railway is constantly evolving." The most true statement ever about this hobby. My best buds for the last year have been rewiring their layout and redoing the scenery at the front of it. Next stage is to rip out the steep grade on it that's been a headache of ours for years and have fully level mainlines.

A good and easy tip to make those stone arches look even better is a simple technique called dry brushing All it requires is having only a small amount of paint on a MOSTLY but not fully dry brush, wiping off excess paint and then just lightly stroking the brush on to the bricks, the paint gets to be on only the most raised surfaces and it results in a SUPER natural rock and stone look and it’s super easy to learn to do Been loving this series so far keep up the good work

A cool tip for the plaster cloth. When you lay it place, take the dust from the bag it came in and mix it with some water. Then take your finger and mix it over the placed cloth. This will make the plaster cloth smooth.

There’s something so therapeutic about watching these videos, keep em coming, love seeing the evolution! If I were to suggest anything, maybe move the church hill to behind the station above that loop. I know you said you were going to make a static display of a metropolitan area and keeping the loop open but I think there might be away to incorporate both. Then you could have a way to start your trains without breaking the illusion of your world and have your church on the hill. Considering the space in only 3x3 you could totally have a tunnel system with the hill working like a lid or something for easy access. Then that little siding you have won’t be “point-less” and can be used for actually starting trains. Regardless of what you do can’t wait to see the next installment. Absolutely love these videos, keep up the great work!

Love how this is turning out! very inspiring, I adore the difference in height at the narrow gauge end, with the two standard gauge lines just below. Will definitely make for some fun scenes! A lil tip for ya, when ballasting, if you brush or tap the ballast to fall between the sleepers it tends to look more realistic. Ballast is rarely left on top of the sleepers as it's usually tamped or shovelled down to be more effective ^^ Keep goin! looking forward to seeing the next instalment

Always a pleasure to see a new Tugs Trains episode out. This was indeed a big step forward. I'm glad you decided to bite the bullet and make it a continuous loop; operations are great and you still have that option, but nothing beats being able to kick back with a cup of tea (or a beer) and just watch the trains go round. That said, I must admit I was horrified at the speeds you were taking your Coronation around those tight loop curves at. I'd strongly recommend adding some skirting guards to the edge of that loop beyond the big station so that if anything does go wrong your precious models don't immediately have a plunge to the concrete below. That said, the fake siding in the tunnel is actually a nice touch and gives a chance for a small hidden fiddle yard for staging and storing trains out of sight; maybe add a curved switch to allow for two short sidings in there. Special props for your quick explanation of how static grass works! I've been curious about it for awhile, but wrote it off as being way beyond my currently non-existent skill level. But after this overview it seems a lot more doable than I'd previously thought. Thanks for the confidence boost. P.S. 24:10 It's a blink and you'll miss it thing, but that whistle sound was a sudden flash of Trainz nostalgia for me. I remember the days when practically every GWR model on the DLS used that same canned whistle sound. Happy days... P.P.S. You mentioned putting on a podcast while you work on the layout. Care to share what sort of podcasts you've been enjoying? Thomas-related stuff? More realistic railway casts like Signals to Danger or The Roundhouse? Or stuff not related to trains at all?

6:00 suggestion for the big station backdrop! Put a city street on the other side of the wall above the tracks (in the same style above the tunnels on Church Hill Road, just a city scene), building faces against the backdrop (in the same way as your tunnel portals), then the backdrop of a greater skyline.
