This was well executed ladies. I was abstaining before marriage. My reasons were faith based 🙏 and they were further reinforced by the fact that most of the girls who were sexually active went through depression or very low moments when the relationships ended. I think if we are to speak in generalities, women tend to have sex hoping for commitment and exclusivity. And yet a man is capable of sleeping with a girl just for a release. The 2 genders attach different value to sex( generally speaking.)Claire said it well. Make your independent decisions but if I were to advise a girl out there, delay sex as much as you can so that by the time you have it, you are old enough to deal with the consequences that come with it. Allow yourself to be a child, to have an innocent childhood. There is plenty of time to be an adult. Being a child with adulthood problems leaves you with scars.

15:44 I think people generally feel intimidated or judged when they are around people who are not like them in terms of choices say, drinking vs non drinkers. Sexually active vs abstinence etc. Whichever choice you make, own it. Live it loud and proud and that way, you will be able to co exist with every one without judging them or feeling judged.

I love that you all finally share the real stories and it helps so many of us not feel alone in these streets lol 😂. On a serious note I feel sex doesn’t make you lose your value as a woman and when we are brave enough to have it, we shouldn’t call it falling short. In the end we’re human and strength isn’t measured by how many people you never slept with or finally slept with. We mustn't make virginity and purity the source of strength or confidence. I’m learning this each day..
@anonnona64332 жыл бұрын
I think it comes down to why one chooses to have sex. There are many women who have sex just to make the man happy hoping to keep the relationship. Like it's not something they want for themselves at that time but they feel obliged to do it. So it's neither consensual nor is it rape. And if the result they hoped for doesn't happen, all hell breaks lose 🤔 My point is have sex when you understand the idea of consent. Have sex because you choose to. Have sex when you are ready to handle the consequences that come with it. Both emotional and physical. But all in all, once it has happened and you feel bad about it, don't live in self condemnation. Take the lesson, forgive yourself and live a happy life. 🤷♂️

Same here... I'm approaching my mid-twenties and I am still that extroverted, free-spirited virgin. no offense. it is a decision I deliberately chose to take until I feel the time is appropriate for me and it has totally nothing to do with not having opportunities coz I have had a million opportunities and I have always opted not to have the sex.

Our generation really fumbled through puberty and adolescence. Very strong points ladies! It would also help if virginity (especially for girls) is no longer perceived as something to "lose". When you phrase it as "my first sexual encounter" instead of "when I lost my virginity", it takes away the shame and expectation that you shouldn't enjoy it.

Such a great discussion 👏 you’re all looking amazing 🤩 suggestion for a future episode, what does submissiveness look like to you? The stereotype in 🇰🇪 about 🇺🇬 women is you all kneel to greet and serve your husbands/boyfriends and you wash their feet etc etc. Kindly confirm/ deny ?
@mizzj60562 жыл бұрын
It is a misconception. Ugandan women are wild...Kenyans are referring to a particular tribe (the Baganda) and stereotyping it as "ALL" Ugandan women. And even Baganda women mostly submit when a man is really being a man (providing). They're nice when they're getting something

Hehhheeeeee...I see this stereotype potrayed in the Kenyan Tv shows...be careful with stereotypes, as a matter of fact the tribe that has kneeling women has the most cunning women. The symbols of submissiveness easily delude men.

I’m open talking about sex but my husband is more conservative. So I have to be mindful and also speak with him about what his boundaries are with me talking about certain aspects of it. But it was known before our marriage that I did not want to sugarcoat the topic with outsiders who may be looking for advice

The truth is this type of thing is likely to exert a lot of pressure on a relationship. You've established a flow and this decision from one side would be changing a very fundamental part of the relationship. I believe it would be very difficult to work on unless both parties really want this and even then, you'd have to change your dynamic in a way that would, without a doubt be difficult and even strenuous. From my own experience, the person choosing abstinence will have to decide if this principle takes precedence in their life (which btw is not a bad thing) Similarly, the other person would have to decide if this is something they're willing to work with, realistically.

I love these open conversations about sex, bring some more. I talk candidly about sex and think people should have these exchanges more often even as couples. Sex is such a personal but also spiritual thing in my opinion. We receive and give it differently as individuals. But no amount of preparation gets you 'ready' for that first one because it's so different for everyone. My 2 cents to any virgin would be, just make sure that you actually really want to do it at that point and there is no external influence, the rest you won't know until it's done.
