And I’ve seen the impact of having a not-so-great maid of honor.

Thank you so much for this advice sweetie. I got appointed as the maid of honor. I was flattered she is a coworker… I was impressed lol 😂 I scheduled her the appointment for the dress. She already picked her dress at the location that I made her the appointment !! I’m so happy that I could help her . She found the dress that she loved thank God!! ,.. I bought her a wedding planner book and she loved it. I’m planning the bridal shower, and bachelorette party too … so we are still working on it.

Definitely a helpful guide. I'm sure that some of my friends wished that they'd had this around for the maid of honor when they were bridesmaids. The two people I know who were bridesmaids had so much drama going on and lack of leadership from the MoH that I set the expectation with all of my friends early on, I will not have any bridesmaids at my wedding and please do not ask me to be yours because the answer will be no. Life is too short for all of that drama. Of course I set this expectation because one of my friends, after all the drama she went through being a bridesmaid for someone else, asked me if she could be a bridesmaid at my wedding. I said no, if I needed a witness she could do it but I would not have a bridal party. Fortunately, my state now has confidential marriage licenses, so I don't even need witnesses. It's going to be elopement on steroids!

This is so helpful! Part of my issue is not knowing when to include my Matron of Honor in wedding things and how to talk to her about it. I don't want wedding plans to be the main/only thing we talk about when we hang out. She is one of those wonderful friends that it so great that everyone asks her to be MOH, so she has some experience, but I don't know how to start the conversation most of the time.

Such a helpful video! Thank you so much! I imagine this can get complicated if there’s more than one maid of honor or matron of honor. Do you have any tips on navigating this? I currently plan to have a maid and matron of honor, and I haven’t sorted out all the logistics of how to delineate tasks to them.

I would just sit down with them with the checklists and assign tasks, I think that’s the easiest way! That way it’s all taken care of and everyone knows what they are supposed to be doing!
