Personally, I think it's a big mistake not to see Top Gun: Maverick at the theater! It's definitely a big screen experience you'll regret not seeing with the full cinema experience! The aerial cinematography is absolutely stunning!

@@theurbangentry Yessir, I have memberships engaged on my channel. The way it works is you create the tier(s) that you want which is just the amounts of money you want people to be able to pledge to your channel, and then you add the perks for each tier. If there are no perks, then I think that's fine as well, the supporters will still have a little tag next to their name in the comments. As far as the money split, it is 70% creator, 30% KZbin, so not the best split out there (Patreon is generally 90/10 if I remember correctly). Just something to consider because I enjoy your content and wouldn't mind throwing some money your way on a recurring monthly basis. Thanks for the continued enjoyable content. Cheers.

Mark, congratulations on learning to fly! I got my PPL back in 1993! I’ve been flying ever since! I wear a Hamilton Khaki Navy GMT when I fly. It’s just so legible. Great subject today too!!! Love your collabs they’re superb. TGV, I live in North London and fly out of Elstree Aerodrome, if you’re in the UK, you’re welcome to join me for a fly. I’ll take off and land and you can do the bit in the middle! I know you’re going to mention it but I would so love a reissue of a Pogue! Cmon Seiko! Make it happen!

Absolutely perfect timing with this upload, TGV! After a long day at work there's nothing like settling in for an hourlong discussion between you and Marc. My pick is definitely the Rolex Space Dweller. Although I know that if it were reissued, prices would quickly shoot into the stratosphere and no one would actually be able to even buy one.

1. Cool video, fun as always, fully agree on 36mm as a perfect watch size. 2. Love the Ranger too! 3.Weems formed a partnership called Weems & Plath to make navigation instruments. They are still around, and most blue water sailors use their dividers in plotting on paper charts.
@DaveMGmovies
@DaveMGmovies 2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree on the Weems. I've got a left-field suggestion: watches I'd like to see reissued are from the microbrands who create an appetite but then don't satisfy it because they make limited runs and then move on to a new design. I suppose though they are creating rare, future classics.

Yes! Out of any Seiko reissue, I would most welcome the 6139. I had a really nice rare example with silver dial. It's so thin, too. It ran great and surprisingly the lume still works very well. But, because there are no more parts made for them for a very long time, and if the way the chronograph mechanics are made, you basically have to cannibalize another 6139 for the part of it goes bad. Btw, not going into the technicals, but that's why it's highly recommended you keep the chronograph running keep the chronograph clutch from wearing out. It really needs a mechanical automatic chronograph and keep all the original proportions for it to be perfect reissue. But, that'll mean needing to engineer a new movement as their current chronograph movement is just too thick to make it into the original case dimensions. Even if it were expensive, it will still sell really well. People gripe about the higher Seiko prices. But, it is what it is and if they really want it they'll bite the bullet and buy it still.

Hi Marc, I have a LeCoultre Atmos sitting on a credenza a couple of feet from a 5-bulb Galilean thermometer. Amazing. I'm also a commercial pilot and former flight instructor. Congratulations on starting the journey! I got my 50-year pin from AOPA two years ago. Flying never gets old, unlike me LOL. I'm wearing a Citizen Skyhawk AT Blue Angels edition I've retrofitted with a 22mm stainless steel bracelet. I actually use the slide rule bezel. Even with digital cockpits, I'd miss the "mini E6-B" right on my wrist. It *never* hurts to have a ready backup in aviation. There's a reason E6_Bs are still used in both instruction and in practice. I lost a beloved Bulova Accutron gold "Spaceview" in Venezuela in 1975 (long story :) Seeing the Accutrons reminded me of the first Accutron I saw at the 1964 Seattle World's Fair. Thanks Marc, TGV and Hugo for creating such fascinating and knowledgeable watch reviews. You've given me proper appreciation for the watches I already own, and lots of ideas for watches I'd enjoy owning.

What a great video. I really enjoy your co-collaborations. Aside from the fact that you both have a business centered around the watch industry, both of you have really become horology scholars! IMHO, you are what the hobby is all about! This video was really enjoyable. Personally, I salivate for a Seiko Pogue re-issue, provided that it is reasonably priced. I am not interested in a quartz movement or a Meca-quartz movement. I have no problem with a handwinding movement; as I rotate my watches, I always have to wind them anyway before putting them on the wrist. In my opinion, a watch has to be mechanical, or it’s not really a watch! BTW, that Longines in the video with the extra bezel locking crown: Many Glycine Airman models sport the same mechanism. I have a Glycine Airman GL071-DC4 with the same system. I personally adore this watch and serendipitously, Marc sold me an awesome Vollmer bracelet for this piece. I get so many nice comments on this watch! Keep up the great Videos. This one in particular was a really nice vignette! Brian

I learned about a few watches I'd never heard of in my 4 years of being into watches, and saw classics I've dreamed about. Bulova should release the Astronaut under the Accutron Legacy line. They use automatic movements in those vintage re-issue line. I think it would fit in beautifully. Assuming it's not 42mm, I would be all over that. I am seeing 38mm vintage versions. I am not sure if that is all they released it in, but I think that would be a great size. If they wanted to modernize it slightly, maybe put it out under Bulova. That watch would sell like crazy if done well. My next favorite was the Brando GMT. That rendering is phenomenal. If only Rolex had the guts to release it, that would probably outsell the Pepsi GMT (for a while anyway). A dressy GMT from Rolex would be so perfect.

Man this was a video and a half! For me this was as trippy as mainly because of the number of watches that you referred to that I actually have! Firstly I have a Pogue, and then the Seiko 6138-0040 Moo and the Citizen "Brad Pitt "8110 Moo (mine's a Panda). I don't have a Ricoh but do have a beautiful little 37mm old West End President Day Date in gold (on president style bracelet) which has the snappiest day date change I've ever seen (in the blink of an eye). The bonus thing about this watch is that my example actually sports the military issue broad arrow on the back. I wondered if that would be all, but then a Bulova Surfboard rolls across my screen - and I have a 1971 version. And then the Rolex GMT shows up - no I can't afford one of those right now despite the fact that I love them, so I have a Cronos GMT Master with pepsi ceramic bezel - a rather stunning homage (I hope that's okay!). I also have a Fortis (Black Mars Chrono). I also have a Charles Lindberg inspired angles watch (A Poljot 3133 chronograph) - I have no idea how to use the angles or the bezel though. I don't have a Seiko SKX GMT, but I do have a Seiko GMT. I got all these pieces out during the duration of the videos. This video shows me that my tastes are actually sort of okay and gives me confidence! I love the dual videos with TGV and Mark. I probably will re-watch Ricoh President video again. Keep it up chaps! :)

The Zodiac Kingline looked awesome. Frankly I've been really obsessed with watches that have smooth sweeps. I used to think my Tudor BB's sweep was really cool, then I saw what the Grand Seiko Spring Drive could do, or Bulova's Precsionist line could do, and what Zenith has going on. Sadly as you and Marc both pointed out, something moving that fast, will wear out much sooner, needs higher quality (costly) parts and sooner than watches with a lower beat rate. I can't even find anybody who would even sell such a movement on its own. Not even Seiko with their 9S movement series. Clearly they're keeping that solely for Grand Seiko's non Spring Drive line. Damn shame. How many brands would jump at the chance to offer a 36,000 beat movement? If Seiko could find a way to produce an unbranded version of the 9S and somehow price it right, it would be a license to print money.

I would also like to see another version of the Tudor Advisor Memovox. (Ref. 10050 to be specific) Such a stunning , simplistic yet unique watch.

Wow that ’Brando’ Rolex is clean and simple but still a Rolex GMT. Pure tool simplicity. 😎 Sometimes less is a more. ... You've nailed it Marc: I think I'm going to buy a Squale 1545 GMT and 'nick the bezel off'. 😉😎

Still watching the video so idk if it's mentioned but would love to see a reissue of the omega 165.024. It's my personal favorite diver. Just has a great timeless look imo. Also wouldn't be opposed to the 2254.50 getting some love as well

55:30 actually they made the Longines Weems Replica limited to 1000 pcs, 33mm, manual wound 2801 while taking out the hack feature of the movement (that's why you use for the weems second) and I was lucky until my boss offered me some quite handsome amount. 😂. I regret selling it till this day.

Missed this chat last month! I must admit I would love a re-issue of the Pogue - it’s just a beautiful looking watch with that golden dial!

I recently acquired a re-edition from Eberhard, their “Scientigraf”. Antimagnetic and 100m water resistance. Aside from a couple of criticisms I think they did a great job.

I love the Longines reissue you recommended, TGV, they should ask you to help design the new one! My two cents would be make the bezel slightly slimmer and keep the dial simplicity. I'd like to see a reissue of the Omega off-white true pie plate look, they are so classic and there's really nothing like them now.

I had to look up the geochron and I have to say that is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Absolutely genius level. Oh...and I really would like to see a new monte carlo with an inhouse movement.

My reissue dream watch is an omega ST165.024 with the 8800 in the back. IMO it’s one of the most classic dive watch designs.

Talking of unsung makes, my dear departed dad bought me a Swiss 17 Jewel Incabloc Valex in 1963 and it's still working perfectly. As regards watches that should be reissued, I nominate the 1967 Tissot Visodate Seastar Automatic PR516 with the Continental (holed steering wheel) bracelet. I bought one new in that year for £27 and, like the Valex, it's still working perfectly . . . and I honestly think it's one of the best looking watches ever.

Fun fact re Ricoh watches: They did a collab with Hamilton between 1962 and 1964, producing Electric watches. The electric parts were made by Hamilton in the US, and the mechanicals parts were made in Japan. The watches are marked Hamilton-Ricoh on the cases. I bought one in Japan (it still works :)). Apparently they sold very few, only in Japan or on US bases in Japan...

I would love to see reissue of the Seiko Flighmaster Panda with the white dial with the blue subdials. And for legibility it should have black hands with good lume instead of silver hands. Also, a day-glo orange chronograph second had would be welcome.

I'd love to see Omega put back the old fashioned Seamaster (like the limited edition one they did in 2018 but without that awful careback). Simple and traditional - I could even stomach a 41mm to fir the 8900 movement.
