Goff really is an 04 Piston when you think about it. Castoff from another team that needs the team just as much as the team needs him. His gameplay isn’t the prettiest but it gets the job done and fits the system

Holmes has always said from the beginning Jared was his guy. he even said that he wanted Jared Goff in the trade when they sent Stafford over Jared has always been a part of the picture

I can see both POVs, but The Lions need Goff more. The OC worked and reworked the offense around Goff. If Goff left, it wouldn't just be "plug and play" any QB, the entire offense would have to be reworked to fit that QB's best skills (for example, and good running QB wouldn't necessarily fit the current offense.) Goff could go to another team and, depending on the talent around him and the offense they had, either elevate the team or if he stepped into an offense designed for a running QB, he'd probably struggle unless/until it was modified to fit him. But at the end of the day, Goff could go to any other team and have decent numbers, and with few exceptions be the starting QB right now, but the Lions would have to modify the offense for ANY other QB.

Can't be scared to upgrade if the opportunity is there Jamal Williams had a great season his last year with us the agent tried to play hardball and what happened got younger got another 1,000 yard back and then drafted another and was one game from the bowl and by the way what happened to the last team that moved off of Goff when he got them close to the Superbowl 🤷🏿‍♂️ ask yourself are you a fan of his or of the team

Goff needs Ben Johnson, a great run game and a great offensive line.. There’s more QBs that the Lions can plug into that system than there are teams that need a QB that Goff can go to and immediately have the wins and stats that he’s having now, not the Pats, not Denver, not the Raiders, plus you have to factor in his inability to perform in the elements, so not the Jets, not the Giants.. Only team I can think of off the top of my head that could use a QB and he has a chance to win and produce is the Saints

At this point, Lions need him more, but other teams want him less, if that makes sense.. He's brought more success in 60 years than the dozens of QB's who tried so you stick with him until the wheels fell off. The standard was 1 playoff win last year and he won 2. Pay him and keep him.

Rico is 💯🎯 right. Why don’t people believe Holmes when he speaks? “It’s a lot easier to get worse…..” and “Goff deserves his new deal”. Some bloviators are just plain silly and wrong. They love the sound of their own voice. And finally if someone else could run this offense as well….. then why didn’t Stafford do it? He had a good team around him with Calvin, Suh, Farley, Slay, Diggs….. and Swartz as a coach. He didn’t even get a playoff win.

Very few teams have an elite offensive line, exceptional Offensive Coordinator and explosive playmakers in the backfield as well as a top 3 receiver in the league. Meanwhile, there are many QBs in the league as good as Goff. Therefore, Goff obviously needs the Lions more. Rico wrong once again!

Lions need Goff more. The QB position is the hardest position in sports to play. I don’t want a mobile quarterback, they always get hurt. The Lions were the laughing stock of the league for decades. Not with Goff. Pay the man his money! Look what happened when Brady left New England. We have a great team and manager. Don’t screw it up by trying to save money. With the exception of Patrick Mahomes, mobile quarterbacks don’t win Super Bowl’s. If Goff is “just” a game manager, then that’s who I want at QB.

Goff needs Detroit more. Goff's career would have been over if it weren't for Detroit lets not forget. He was on his way to being a backup somewhere. Secondly stop this nonsense that Goff isn't replaceable. He isn't an elite HOF talent that comes every blue moon. He's good but unspectacular, a little bit better than game manager talent. There is nothing elite about his skills. To say the Lions staff could not groom another more talented HH is laugable. Put Dak, Cousins, put any of those mid tier QBs and you will get the same result. Put Goff on another team and he's a lower tier starter. Nobody thinks highly of Goff outside of Detroit. Nobody will be knocking down the door to go get Goff. He has zero leverage because whether Goff fans want to say it or not there is a more talent QB sitting on the bench in waiting. Holmes stand your ground don't overpay because Goff is not elite or worth it.
