@@yaelomannetje I found it enlightening, I didn't know how bad Dave's takes were. I only ever saw him from a clip when he was on Piers Morgan or CNN or whatever. Now I know his pro-ceasefire takes are at least partially "America is bad, so Israel is too." This is helpful, I can expect that when a ceasefire is achieved, any peace-oriented engagement by the US will, by Dave, seen as wrong because "America always bad."

The comments section was PAINFUL. I can't take anyone seriously who thinks Dave Smith has anything reasonable to say. The dude who said that people calling him a fascist just made him want to be more of a fascist. Alot of the Rising commenters hate Krystal also because she presents believes they disagree with sometimes and she is one of the hosts. It used to be more even when they were on rising because they were a corporate news source youtube recommended them to everyone interested in politics so it was closer to 50/50 right vs left and the right wingers were generally more reasonable but once they went independent that changed. All these “what if Russia did a coup in Mexico” morons act like Zelenskyy was the president was installed by the “coup.” Zelenskyy was elected years later and as Dylan Burns stated, he was a pro peace candidate and wanted to make peace in the region. The president at the time Poroshekno said that Zelenskyy’s victory would benefit Russia. Zelenskyy tried to negotiate ceasefires with the separatists and even tried to convince some Ukrainian militias to surrender illegal weapons and accept peace accords. So to make their comparisons more accurate, America would have to have invaded Mexico only after they elected a new leader who tried to make peace with them and stop the far right militias, and was overall much more neutral towards America. But expecting honesty from these people is impossible.

But this all started with a coup in 2014. some people call “revolution “ but it’s still the same thing. They had an insurrection in Kiev because Janukovyč ( democratically elected president of Ukraine) decided to get closer to Russia. This insurrection was just in the capital and not in the other cities. That’s many cities in Ukrainian rebelled (Odessa , Kharkov etc…) but didn’t last long, only the cities of the Donbass had relative success thanks to the help of Russia and Crimea that got annexed

Its immensely frustrating for me to have Ryan Grim toeing the BP line on Russia, especially in regards to the beach strikes incident - He's the only actually legitimate reporter associated with the show, and normally has at least a basically reasoned take on news and events. BP has straight up lied about Ukraine though, claiming they were directed strikes when video and even the Russians themselves indicate it was an ordinance shootdown. And their claims that the Ukrainian general was indicating civilians are targets is frankly insane. Crimea is a war zone, and beachgoers there have as much expectation of safety as beachgoers in Normandy would have had in WW2.

I just happened to get a tip to read into Ireland. Basically Ireland and the sea around it is pretty important to control the Atlantic, so Moscow backed the IRA to get some influence. The UK and Ireland made a secret deal where Ireland would remain neutral, but if nukes were used in the UK then Ireland would side with the UK and allow British forces to be deployed there so that they could be dispersed and reduce the chance of getting all wiped out by strikes. And Irish troops could serve along Britain's. Meanwhile the CIA backed the PIRA and sent support through Whitey Bulger to minimize Moscow's influence on the pro-reunification militants. It's crazy how the Cold War chess game was being played.

Vaush please go visit the Lazerpig Cinematic Universe as a guest to prep for Russia debates. Your heart's in the right place, but you have several critical gaps in your knowledge, most crucially you have bought Russian Dolchstoss mythology about what happened in the 90's hook, line and sinker. Or you could invite Sarcasmitron as a guest that'd be sweet too (he's probably got the best video series on what happened in Russia during the 90's on KZbin)

Breaking Points hasn't had a video in over 24 hours after Saagar made an embarrassment of the channel for a couple days. For the last couple months, every time they have more than one guest on at a time, at least one has no credibility; is a radical right winger; isn't informed on the topic they are on to talk about; and only talk political talking points, instead of anything based in reality.

@omegaroleplayer1022 Yes, both things are bad. And I don't think the "NATO expansion" is the reason for Russias aggression. But let's say hypothetically it is true, the logic is not without reason and has historical precedence e.g. in USA vs. Cuba. That's not meant to be an excuse for Russia or a whataboutism, in the sence of it's okay if russia does it because the US did it, too. It's both bad. I just don't like double standards and hypocrisy.
