Earned respect and love without one swear word or gesture. And made people laugh and in reruns still makes them laugh. No one like him today.

I had the great privilege of being acquainted with Mr. Skelton for several years. I can honestly say that he was the same wonderful person off stage as on -- a true gentleman of integrity. I am very proud to have called him a friend and even prouder that he referred to me as his friend.

🥀Beautiful Interview with Red Skeleton I grew up listening to & watching him on TV growing up he was such an amazing Man that kept his heart intwined into everything he believed in. I remember my Mama started crying while we were watching his show I didn't understand why that particular night he was on stage doing a show and his Son had died I don't know if it was the same day but it broke my heart and I admire him for that and every thing he stood for. He was magic to me. I loved him from a baby on up never missed a show I don't think but his audience was always laughing & so was my Family. 🥀🥀RIP Red Skeleton We Love You🥀☝️🥀🕊

I grew up watching his weekly show. I ❤ Red Skelton . He was a man of honor . I fortunately had the privilege of a personal discussion with Red after his performance at PURDUE University. And I have a photo of him with my father Mike Mcclaskey and other police officers Red Skelton brought us happy times each week on his TV program. I also had the opportunity to meet Reds second wife Lothian when she came to Vincennes to sell his paintings and collectibles. Loved to hear his closing words Goodnight and God bless

Thank heaven for recorded media, like time travel to indelible values and national treasures. Mr. Skelton, as a comedian is so much more than a series of punch lines, as he said: "addicted to getting the laugh" Time did not darken his heart. Humility, intellect, kindness and comedic self deprecation. Classic.

@@ruthmartindale3697 I think Red Skelton is loved by everyone everywhere! Be nice though being from his home town, I imagine he is even a bigger and more special person for anyone from his home town and I imagine I'd have a certain sense of special pride were he from my home town! Its funny, how us humans make these connections but it's the way it is and I couldn't imagine a better man to base any sense of pride or perceived connection to!

I agree strongly with Mr Skelton 's last statement !! I think it is in poor taste that a comedian thinks he must use 4 letter words to entertain.

I don't mind it once in a while, though it's amazing early tv entertainers could work for 50 years without cussing once, but when it becomes every other word (Robin Williams, Eddie Murphy, etc.) I prefer to skip it.

Someone once said that cuss words are used by the least educated. Their vocabulary skills are slim. I suppose now that would include the audience having a small vocabulary.

The last part is the best, where he talks about how TV can't afford entertainment, and goes with reality instead. He was right, but he could not have foreseen how low TV would go to save a buck.

I wonder if it has ever been acknowledged that Red Skelton predicted what television would become. He was dead on for the time frame he mentioned. However doubt he could have ever imagined the age of the lowly 'reality' TV on cable programming. RS was such a wonderful human being in every sense of the words.

These artists from past generations were ethical, believed in doing an honest day's work and getting payed for it, and did their homework, so their craft was genuine and had quality. This is why programs from yesteryear were good. Today's stuff is shallow because they take the easy road, and people don't know anything because they get up too late to know anything new that is happening in the world. They just believe what is spoon fed to them, and use that to get the quick and easy buck.
