The Met gala really doesn't have anything to do with current events. It has to do with raising money for The Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute. And since tickets were $75,000 apiece, I'm guessing they raised plenty. So good for them!

@@HossEehoss A lot of the stars who were there have the designers or the producers of their latest project pay the ticket cause it's publicity for them; many (if not most) of them don't pay it out of their own pocket. It's a transactional arrangement that benefits both The Met & the person paying for the ticket.

They understood the story behind the dress code which is Garden of Time and also think about the theme of fragile dresses that are warn once.Instead of going the east way off getting flower dresses, they went deep. Will always remember that dress because it is UNIQUE! No one has ever done that before

@@user-lg7ev9lm8b the dress wasn't actually molded to her body perfectly. It was molded; yes but not perfectly to her body. It was just stiff that's why she couldn't move. If you watch when they cut it off of her you can see that there was lots of room in the front, the hips and the but areas. The torso was body sculpted but the rest wasn't. I felt she deserved better. The sentiment and the idea behind it was great but it turned her into a meme.

I think it’s lots of fun but mainly because of what Alyssa said. I like the THEME aspect of it and seeing who did a good job in relation to the theme. My favorite gala was definitely 2018 - Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. The outfits were stunning and on point. I liked it so much I actually went to the museum to see the exhibit and it was incredible!

I was interested in Whoopi's answer to Sarah's question about what happens once the stars leave the red carpet in those gowns. Obvs one assumes they go to another space to change before mingling but it would have been nice to get a first hand account from someone who has been there. BUT, these ladies interrupt each other a lot. Very often one cant finish a thought or have a joke land because the other will interrupt.
