Yeah. The playwright said he never thought it would ever be seen on Broadway because he didn’t think people were ready for it. Internalized racism within the AA community is a difficult topic to address, especially back then. He’s in his 80s now and I’m glad that he was able to see his work celebrated on a B’way stage.

4:00 FYI: The director of "A Soldier's Play", Kenny Leon, won the 2014 Tony Award for his direction of "A Raisin in the Sun" with Denzel Washington and LaTanya Richardson (Samuel L. Jackson's wife). Leon also directed the 2010 revival of "Fences" for which Denzel Washington and Viola Davis won the Best Actor/Actress Tony Award. Leon is a legend in the theater world.

NAtional Theatre (UK) and the MET Opera does live streaming to movie theatres around the world, it's great! (Check your local listings!) but it would also be great if these Broadway plays that are unlikely to do National/International tours (usually reserved for the musicals) would be captured for live and encore performances in movie theatres too.

Join clubs like AARP, Groupon, AAA, local groups at your place of worship, women's groups, men's group, if you're a man, start a club at work, start a group on your block, etc. Group rates are cheaper and most times, they include dinner. Just be part of any kind of group.

He’s not aging he’s like an angel he glows! I stood next to him on an escalator in nyc once and I was so shocked when I looked up at him I had to touch his arm to see if he was real 😂. I stared at him like a psycho and when he looked down at me and said hello - I giggled like a teenager and I think I had a stroke.
