Nolan also represents the long term thinking of a near immortal. He’s detached from humanity at first because he sees them as primitives with short life spans. He’s constantly thinking centuries ahead. “What will you have in the next 500 years?!”

Precisely. Nolan is around two thousand years old. I always took his comment about Debbie being like a pet to him as an extremely misguided attempt to relate to Mark, as humans love their pets and cherish them but their lifespans compared to ours are extremely short.

The scene where omni man jumps into the portal and solos an entire planet will always be my favourite scene in Invincible. Delicious double-meaning one-liner aside the whole section is a perfect display of omni mans sheer power, and greatly elevates the stakes on every scene after, since we now know that omni man could easily destroy earth if he wished so. And the whole scene is framed beautifully, the banger song, the harsh red and black palette makes the whole scene feel more brutal and alien. Masterclass

Yesss glad you finally covered Nolan & This was an immaculate Video as always. Loved the comics for Invincible & Omni Man is Really a great character. The Viltrumites had their twisted way of living but Also it kinda makes me want to see an analyzing Evil on Vegeta since a lot of people mistakenly think Vegeta was only evil cause Frieza made him that way cause of the Old Dub changing certain lines when got killed on Namek, when In reality when you read the Original Manga Vegeta always made it very clear "no I loved being sadistic & slaughtering planets it was fun, the saiyans liked killing planets years before Frieza even hired us" & knowing the character's growth today him and Nolan make good counterparts. Excited for you to continue the series.

There's also the fact that Broly is, according to Vegeta, what are Super Saiyan SHOULD be. A violent animal that does what it wants because no one can stop him. When Vegeta suspects Goku might be a Super Saiyan on Namek but then Goku shows concern for him, Vegeta falls into despair. Because a naturally kind person could never be the Super Saiyan his people whispered about. And when he was controlled by Babadi, he states his image of a perfect warrior was someone cold and ruthless and subsisting on his own strength. Because that's what Saiyan society was built on.

I think it’s just so inspiring how much they’ve improved Nolan in the show. The subtle hints and clever wording perfectly foreshadows Nolan’s true intentions. Not to mention, the fight scene with Guardians was so much more emotional and intense. And I appreciate that they showed Nolan’s regret, shame and lack of purpose as he travels through space. The added detail of him almost ending his life in a black hole was a genius addition.

As a DBZ fan, I like that Invincible basically asks and answers the question “What would have happened if the Saiyans had never been subjugated by Frieza and incorporated into the Planet Trade Organisation?”. Now that Viltrum and Nolan has been covered, you should consider talking about the Saiyan race. If Viltrum is orderly, the Saiyans were barbaric in nature, much more like the Rakata than the traditional empire. I feel like, just as you used Nolan's story as a way to talk about Viltrum, Bardock could do the same, as his story is all about confronting the evils of his race, so a video on him and the Saiyans would be fun. Keep up the great work as always

Seconded, thoough I'd imagine Vegeta would be the better choice. Not only do we see him doing a lot more evil stuff, but we also see him more in general and he never really gets redeemed until the buu saga, so until then he pretty much represents the entire dark side of saiyan psychology as opposed to Goku, who represents a more stable and well-adjusted saiyan.

@sirfrancis8732 I could see Vegeta as well. I felt like Bardock was best because he was the one made to confront Frieza initially. He was given the tools to avoid his destruction, and his Saiyan ego led him to face it instead. But both are cool, I'd welcome either

Omni-Man’s story is rather similar to that of Vegeta’s. Both characters progress from a villain to anti-hero after falling in love, becoming a parent, accepting their emotions and being less prideful. Furthermore, both characters were indoctrinated servants to violent societies. Neither saiyans or viltrumintes are violent by nature, they just developed as violent societies. Excellent video analysis as always. Villain Profile Suggestions: 1. Frank Underwood/Francis Urquart (House of
Cards) 2. 001 (Squid Game) 3. Petyr Baelish (A Song of Ice and Fire) 4. Frank Gallagher (Shameless US 5. Marty and Wendy Byrde (Ozark) 6. Dudley Smith (L.A Confidential) 7. Lilith (Diablo 4) 8. Saiyans are a violent race by nature. I don't know enough about Viltrumites to say the same, but Saiyans absolutely are. The scene that really made viltrum’s depravity hit home was the alternate reality where Mark helps Nolan conquer Earth. They were having the time of their lives systematically and sadistically destroying this helpless planet, while delivering lines like “look what you made us do” “this is all your fault” “you destroyed your planet by resisting” etc etc. They sounded exactly like a certain real world tyrannical society but I digress.

15:25 I'm glad you mentioned this. Culture might be the explanation behind a lot of Viltrum's collective despicable acts, but it is not an excuse. It wasn't Nolan's fault that he was raised with this mindset, but it doesn't make him any less evil. Likewise, I agree with your statement that Viltrumite culture *_should_* be done away with because of their harmful cultural practices. The same should be applied in real life, as well. FGM, merking women for the sake of "honor", caste systems where human beings are regarded as having no value for pointless and arbitrary reasons, even things like grape and child abuse are defended as "cultural" by said cultures where it is normalized. I firmly believe that any culture that proudly inflicts such great harm onto defenseless innocents, has no place in polite society.

This what I like about Omni-Man's story, he embodies what can happen when a person from a very restrictive society goes to a place that allows freedom and critical thinking that leads to them questioning everything they knew before then which leads to changes for the better. He may not be fully absolved of guilt on his road to redemption, but he is bound and determined to leave the galaxy a better place than he found it in. There is a reason Omni-Man is a the more liked of the evil superman trope characters, he eventually becomes a force for good. As for villains I think you could analyze I have several suggestions 1) All-For-One from My Hero Academia 2) Edelgard von Hreasvelg/Agarthans from Fire Emblem Three Houses 3) Professor Sada/Professor Turo from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet 4) Madara Uchiha from Naruto 5) Akira Nishkiyama from Yakuza 6) Shao Khan/General Shao from Mortal Kombat 7) Skeletor from He-Man 8) Cyrus from Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum
