Thank you so much...xx. I have had covid...the first time ever...gosh, it really lays you low...over here in the UK the nearest to NFl I guess is Rugby...I mean those men are huge! And have utter respect for their coaches, opposition and of course the officials. We have a very famous Welsh Referee...Nigel Owens...a slight of a man...he could control all those men on his pitch..his famous line...'this is not football'!! And I can totally emphasise with trying to produce anything under pressure 😂😂. But, thankfully you got your antibiotics...xx stay safe and well..x

About Kelce...as an American, I can assure you that the media here covered that story as much as the big win. It's not acceptable or appropriate. The public out cry was huge. He should have been fined or penalized somehow, but because of it being the Super Bowl, I think it was downplayed by the team. Andy is a super nice guy and not hot headed. I was actually shocked to see all of it. Kelce is the darling boy right now because of all the media attention on him over his relationship with Taylor Swift. A lot of people are tired of the side show that has taken away from the KC games this season.

Personally, I think they should not allow him to play the first 5 or 6 games of next season. Maybe the NFL needs to put some rules into effect as to what the consequences for that should be. He very definitely needs an anger management class. Maybe they could make him pay a fine and still have to sit on the bench for a few games. If nothing else, there has to be some consequences or some of the rookie players might start acting the same way. Make it very clear to all the players that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated.

It concerned my daughter as she had been in an abusive relationship. His body language was threatening and intimidating. If he can do that in public, imagine what he can be like in private, and to someone weaker. I would be rethinking my relationship with him..

I think here in the USA, we are starting to accept a level of violence and aggression that would have been totally unacceptable years ago. IMO some people even see this aggression as positive. In their opinion, you are standing up for yourself. You are a bad-a$$. The older generation understands this lack of self-control shows immaturity and poor judgement--maybe not so much the younger ones. It is definitely a danger sign for any relationship with him. IMO.

Yes to the Kitty Kelly book!! I will miss the Housekeeper's Diary when you finish it. I would love to know the details on why it was banned in the UK. It's a shame as we know so much about the marriage break down now anyway so it could be re- published again. I would love to read the book but it's so expensive on ebay. However, I love your comments about the book Shauna and I think you're very fair to all involved.

Happy Valentine's Day!! (I've got the inside scoop on the Kelce family due to some connections😉).Jason, brother, has always had to take care of Travis because of his outbursts, competitiveness and behavior. He was a wild child and a handful for his mama. Travis did apologize and his coach blew it off as "emotional", but it was wrong. It was all over the press when it happened, and when they won the game, that negative coverage magically disappeared. I think if they would have lost, his career would have suffered and that would have been the focus.

My husband is always venting about the self checkouts - the companies are already making so much money and now they have us working for them for free - bagging our stuff that we paid for. Here in America - the plastic bags are now banned so you either have to bring your own bags of pay 10 cents a bag. Moreover, if you order for pick-up which is great so you can just stop in to get your stuff - now they will charge $1 for bagging - WHAT! - this is not progress.(I forgot to mention that is Target trying to charge me $1 to bag my pickup order - so guess what - I stopped doing pickup)

Hello! Good very early morning here. It's NOT okay to push the coach, he got off very easy. The coach was asked about it and basically said he had over enthusiastic child energy and due to another player fumbling or something asked to be put in the game. Coach understood and appreciated the energy. I think the crowd would have been more unforgiving if coach hadn't given him a pass by excusing his behavior. It is the big final and second year in a row KC has won, so the excitement was astronomical. Our power went out right before half-time, so neighbors were going doorcto door to see who had power. They had to dispatch a crew to come fix things, so missed the half-time show and part of third quarter. I don't really watch it closely, anyway and was busy adapting to cooking by lantern on my gas stove while it got sorted. Love the stories ❤️, next book sounds exciting! Sweet dreams Aussie friends, and good day/evening to everyone waking up or plodding through. 🌙 🌞 🌇 🌅. As for the banking, it makes me feel old, too. I don't normally complain, but I would. You shouldn't need an account to exchange legal tender, but it IS your bank. You shouldn't have to convince an employee to service you. That's not appreciating a customer. The teller was rude.

Shauna, not having tellers inside the bank is the going trend in banking. My daughter works for a well known bank here in the States and they are pushing their clients to do their banking online while they 'slim down' their staff. I'm afraid tellerless banking is the future now. They keep one teller in the drive thru and one teller inside, and if you want to speak with a banker then you must set an appointment. There's no more walking in and asking to speak with a banker to solve your problem or open an account, you must set an appointment and it's never on the day that you walked in and asked. This is killing the community feel you used to get when you did business at the bank. Remember when the tellers knew your name? Not anymore.
@ecm958
@ecm958 5 ай бұрын
I had to jump through hoops to navigate online banking. Then they shut me out because they said I might have had my banking info stolen. I didn't. Now I call the bank and speak directly with a teller to do all my banking. Except I use ATMs. I call often and hope they hate it. Shauna, "Lorraine" treated you in a horrendous fashion. Aren't there any banks nearby that have normal tellers?

Back in the 80's my husband worked for a Japanese company when we lived in Holland and we were both surprised by how different our cultures were. At one Christmas party they called up a Dutch manager and in front of everyone said how he had saved the company heaps of money and presented him with a fan. The look on his face as he stared at his reward was priceless. In Japanese culture being praised in front of the whole company would be the reward. My husband's direct boss asked me if I would visit his wife and help her improve her English. Mariko, a beautiful petite woman was just as fascinated by my culture as I was with hers. One of the most surprising things was when she told me how she had been to school before marriage to learn how to be a good wife. 😲

I try not to get excited, grrrrr! About feeling out of touch, we can't even watch our TV because we have cancelled all the garbage and are left with only Amazon Prime. Now they are asking for a password, (Good God, HELP US!!!). Of course we don't know a password for that, so no TV. However, the receptionist at the doctor's office did me in. I remember paying a small fortune for a video of it at the venue so I could still share it with my mother. My mother ended up watching it a jillion times, mainly because my daughter always wanted to watch it with her (she was approximately three years old at the time). Oh man, you hit a nerve with banks and grocery stores. I absolutely refuse to bag my own groceries. And like you, I haven't been into a bank for years but had to recently and couldn't believe the brush off I kept getting for my 'complaint' about an issue I was having with their ATM. I swear they were deliberately acting like they couldn't understand what I was talking about. They kept trying to convince me the problem was mine, and not theirs. I finally just turned around and walked out, threatening to change banks, which, of course, I won't do, cos it would just mean more darn administrative crap! With regard to the 'sample', here in Canada, the government has finally realized that we women KNOW when we need those antibiotics, and now all we have to do is just go to the pharmacy and tell the pharmacist we need them. A much better system! Love your channel.

I refuse to use self service checkouts, because they always seem to glitch & you have to call a staff member over anyway. And with the price of groceries going sky high, why should I do their job for them? I was reading yesterday that one of our budget department stores is so concerned about theft from self service checkouts that they are going to spend millions on AI monitoring. That is so stupid, just put back proper checkouts manned by people - problem solved.

Last year I wanted to get Euros (from the bank that I’ve held an account with for about 50 years, in England), only to be told that they don’t keep any in the bank, but told that I could order them on line - I’m afraid I was less than happy and felt obliged to ask, in my best snarky voice, if they were still actually a bank! A friend of mine needed to pay cash into his Spanish bank account, but they only take cash between certain hours, in the morning, if you’re even one minute outside of those times they refuse to help you.

Hi from the US! What Travis did was unacceptable but his coach and team love him for his passion, which he should have controlled in that moment. I was more embarrassed for him when he tried to sing Viva Las Vegas- awful. 😂 Regarding your bank story, I went to the post office recently to mail a package and tried to pay with cash. The clerk was very abrupt and very clear that cash was not acceptable- I needed to use a card. When did that happen?? I typically use my debit card for most everything but had a $20 I wanted to use. So weird. Made me feel old. Love your channel! You share opinions and stories in such a sweet way. Sip!

The Betty White commercial introduced her to a whole new generation. I remember my Grandson saying something about her and I asked him how he knew about Betty White. He told me, "Super Bowl!" So, then I had to go find the commercial. I watch college football, here in the Southern U.S., college football is almost a religion. I only watch two colleges' games. Alabama, since that is where we live, and Notre Dame, since my father graduated from ND.

I couldn't move and was practically a danger to myself!! 😂 I can totally relate to the judgy Lorraine and also the look from the nurse in the Dr office. And I also HATE when I'm calling a customer service line and get the automated voice asking which department I need. Then I hear that same "clickity click" on a keyboard. I try to remind the automated voice that I KNOW he/she doesn't have fingers because they are a computer!!! Don't clickity-click me!! Love all your broadcasts!

Another great time, lots of giggles. I hope you are all fully recovered soon. I attended the Friends event at the Royal Opera House where Diana danced with Wayne Sleep. During the reception before the entertainment, Charles and Diana passed by us on their way to socialise with the Great and the Good. She looked stunning. We were very surprised when she appeared on stage with Wayne Sleep - it was well done, funny and brought the house down. The atmosphere was fabulous. I didn't pick up any disapproval amongst my friends or the people around us. I suspect it was just Charles who didn't think it was great fun and was miffed that she took the limelight from him. For context, although there were some serious bits of opera and ballet, mainly it was fun, light hearted musical and dance items. The Crown made Diana's dance seem far more out of context than it felt to me at the time. Well done for avoiding the TLB.

While I am here I might as well leave a comment that I have wanted feedback on for the last few days. I watched an incredible show of George the Giant slayer with guests Baggage Claim and Sean Atwood. I thought it was an amazing introduction for people who knew nothing about M and H . However one point that was raised by Baggage Claim was that she felt Meghan was setting up her own failure at things like failing with royal protocol, not understanding the culture etc so that she had proof to call them racists. This was pre planned long before the wedding. Despicable. Similarly now Meghan is pushing really hard to get the royal family to strip them of their titles. Is this because she now is aiming for the Princess Henry title instead? How long would it take her to convert that to Princess Meghan ? Even as a seasoned “Megxit” channel surfer I was impressed by this particular video. I would love your feedback.
@thevintageread

Yes many people agree with the princess theory …I think she is just motivated to prove that she was undervalued and mistreated by the mean Royal Family! But who really knows! 😂
@mezzamuddle
@mezzamuddle 5 ай бұрын
I agree. She had it all planned and would love nothing more than for the title to be taken so she could call herself Princess Meghan because we know how she loves to ignore protocol, which means she should be Princess Henry. Her jealousy of Catherine is so bad that she sees herself as equal and therefore should be Princess Meghan 🙄

Oh my goodness, your pie story had me really laughing and calling back the past big time - my son did the same thing and ate his pies the way you did - and even though he took a packed lunch to school every day, he still bought a pie - every day!!! So much so that once he got to high school - his nickname was 'Pie' - we even had it embroidered on his high school Letter Jacket. When he got his bike, his mates called him piecycle and when he got glasses, he was called popeye - I thought they were really clever. Funnily enough, he still eats his pies the same way and he's 36!

Fab, fab, fab, Shauna! As always, I loved this week's "Gossip Before Bed", and you'll never believe this, but I'd only just gone and ordered Kitty Kelley's book from eBay before 'tuning-in' to your channel, and was absolutely gobsmacked when I saw it on your bookcase! Looking forward to your chat and thoughts on this book! My copy of "The Housekeeper's Diary" arrived the other day, and I honestly just couldn't put it down! I read it up to the last 3 chapters, where you're about to continue from, and although I'm keen to read on, I won't, as I enjoy your chats too much to spoil things for myself by reading ahead. I go to Sweden regularly. In 2016 I returned and had kept cash from my previous visit. Little did I know that several denominations had recently become obsolete and I couldn’t use them. So I went to a bank (Nordea) in the small town where I lived (Orsa) to exchange the old notes for new. I was told they couldn’t exchange them because there were now only three of their banks in Sweden that held cash! 😳 (in the major cities of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö) PS Kitty Kelley sounds like a great choice!

Loved your pie story. That is very traumatic and I can relate. When I was a child in elementary school my mother put a russet apple in my lunch. First time I had ever seen this variety of apple. I thought it was a potato! I was so embarrassed I hid it back in my lunch bag immediately and when I got home I said to my mom: “you put a potato in my lunch!” Lol. When I finally learned it was an apple and tasted it, well russet apples are still my favourite variety to this day. And they still look like potatoes to unsuspecting people.

This was the 70s coke was .25 cents in the machine so I would hoard as much as possible so I would have money in my pocket in case they had tuna noodle salad in the cafeteria line. It would only show up like once a month and it was .75 cents!! But it was sooo worth it to drink water at lunch if it meant I had the quarters for the salad!!! SIP.
