Something that amazes me about VR is how controller vibration can communicate interacting with objects or when you are touching a wall. Playing HL Alyx and the biggest gripe I have is walking into boxes and not feeling it. Hopefully that OWO shirt can complete that missing piece of the experience.
@blizado36752 жыл бұрын
bHaptics can did that already. The problem of the OWO shirt is, that VR apps also need to support them and I'm sure the support List will be very short on the beginning and we don't know how far it will be build out. On bHaptics, they already have a huge list of supported VR apps and it's still growing. So software support is also an important point on such additional products.

Since the Quest 2 controllers use tracking rings, maybe Oculus could make FBT with those same tracking rings - but able to strap to your body like Vive Trackers. It would basically just be a Quest 2 controller, but just the tracking ring (and a battery, maybe in the bottom?) And, you could use a mirror or external tracker for FBT like in the patents.
@VTSfilms2 жыл бұрын
Sadly, the tracking rings are found by the cameras on the quest, so when something is blocking the view to your feet, the quest won't know where your feet are. So when your arms are blocking the view from the headset to your feet it stops working. So this also doesnt work for anyone with larger breasts or a big belly.

I find it funny, the discussion on haptic vests and force feedback. I've been in to VR for years, I got into it because I'm a PC gamer, I'm also 58 yo, I had a very adventurous 20's and 30's, with free rock climbing, motocross, classic motorcycle racing, and many years riding motorcycles and sidecars. These days I still ride motorcycles and sidecars, I'm a bit broken from crashing when I was younger (broken back, pelvis, legs, chest, and have massive nerve damage in my legs, walking is a bit challenging). VR is my escape these days for those experiences on the edge, fantastic to see new haptic tech.

I am very grateful and thankful for all your videos and helpful information. You are amazing. I strongly suggest to not say "we can't afford it" because that creates a broke mentality. Instead, say "we may not be able to afford it right now but can all afford it eventually." Changing the way we think and talk about things, especially money, does have a positive impact and can create a new reality. Build up the mentality that says "expensive" is just relative, and price is no object. The attitude comes first. We can have anything at some point and we need to remember to feel good about that. These techniques work, and I've been using them for years and was able to get things I, before using the techniques, didn't believe I could.

Metroid Prime Trilogy Remastered VR (With Crysis Remastered like treatmemt budget on detail and quality). But you get to feel the maximum amount of pain possible the suits could emulate on you when getting damaged in-game given the nature of the Metroid games. From getting shot with unconventional projectiles more violent than bullets, to getting severe death-intented concussions to crushing body parts, and tazed-fried alive or getting poisoned with chemicals, choked or feeling just the front of your chest whenever turning into a Morphball, getting slammed to walls, the pressure of being on space on a suit, falling from impossibly high heights, small creatures crawling on player, getting smacked/punched/cut/exploded/chomped. The pressure of shotting beams, rockets, creating explosives, everything. Metroid Prime VR with realistic Sensory accessories for a full Samus perspective sensation would be an absolute nightmare, one that I would gladly partake on trying if it ever happens
