He just said that there was a band member that didn't want to do that stuff anymore 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I mean he is so great, one of the best! But i hate it when the singer overshadows the entire band mates! I hate it!! It’s unfair! We can argue who has the more important and effective role in any band relatively, but i personally give a credit to all the band if the band as a whole is great whatever who has the bigger effect/importance or how much every member contribute to it!

Eyes of a Stranger and I Don't Believe in Love are probably my 2 favorites. Operation Mindcrime, IMO, is the only concept album that comes close to Pink Floyd's The Wall. It's a very close 2nd and at times I think it's better. For me they're neck and neck and constantly vying for first place. In fact, given that I prefer hard rock and metal I think Operation Mindcrime is better. It's more my style of music. And now I'm in real trouble because I probably just greatly annoyed a large number of Pink Floyd fans. 😱

As a child of the 80's, constantly hearing that "metal takes no talent" from people who have never listened to it before, its gratifying hearing all these professionally trained people in awe of Geoff Tate, Ronnie James Dio, Bruce Dickinson, etc. I think metal is a lot more complicated than most music, both lyrically (sometimes) and instrumentally. It's so nice to see these bands properly appreciated for the immense amount of talent they have. She was not prepared for Geoff Tate. :D

Metal music is music that could easily fit into orchestral settings. I always say metal was created during the period of the classical composers. They just lacked electricity and amplification. They created music that was as fast and as loud, for their centuries, as much of the high quality metal out there.

@@zazz69ed From what Geoff has said, he went to Maestro Kyle for breath control lessons because he was becoming exhausted after a few songs. He had to audition for Maestro to be able to see if he was serious about learning and when he realized he had something there, he gave him some training. Geoff said it was about 6 month's worth and this was during the Myth days.

Bethany! Great reaction to Geoff, he was untouchable in his heyday and his range is amazing. And the fact he still sounded crisp after singing all night is a testament to his training. He along with others (Ann Wilson, Chris Cornell etc), were taught by the Maestro, David Kyle from Seattle. Always loved his vibrato but when he hits that E5!! Wow.

Thank you for this reaction! I'm always thrilled to watch others discover Queensryche (original lineup)! My favorite band, hands down! Geoff was not an opera singer, but had some classical/opera training. I believe his aunt was an opera singer though. Other vocal coaches have pronounced him to be a baritone, hence such rich warm tones in his upper register. But, you would know way more than me. I'm just picking things up along the way. That second E5 he hits in this song is just perfection! Always makes me smile! I really enjoyed your analysis and comments. Always fascinating to hear what knowledgeable vocal coaches have to say! I hope you do more Queensryche! For the opposite end of the scale, try "Silent Lucidity". Very lush and in Geoff''s mid to lower range. There are so many good songs by them! "The Killing Words" MTV Unplugged 1992. "Eyes of a Stranger" "Walk in the Shadows" "Another Rainy Night" "Roads to Madness" "The Thin Line" "Anybody Listening?" "Real World" "One more Time" To name a few. QR is about quality in every respect. Each member is fantastic and versatile! Hope to hear more from you!

Geoff is classically trained. I always love watching vocal coaches critique what most Metal afficianados think is the best voive in history in the Hard Rock/Metal genres. If he is not number one, most lists have him no lower than three. This is Queensryche’s best song and Geoff’s best performance. This is my favorite Song ueensryche song and thus, I can hear the very slight nuances that signal that this is a live version. I’m glad you liked it.

Same, & same! Plenty of these guys were legit singers, but some got pigeonholed as ‘hair Metal’ or screamers. Tate, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Sebastian Bach, Miljenko Matejevic (Steelheart)… and so many more. It’s a shame that they didn’t get the proper credit back then. Seems like these ‘Reaction Vids’ are actually finally giving these guys their due. Especially when vocal coaches & other professional singers are doing the reacting. Most MARVEL at how Tate hits those e5’s, seemingly effortlessly. And then drops back down. I’ve seen it said that he’s naturally a tenor, Injave no idea, I just know that in his prime this dude was HIM!!

Can listen to him sing any day of the week, him and the band are so good. Rock and metal have some great singers, Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Ronnie James Dio (Dio/Rainbow/Black Sabbath), Phil Anselmo (Pantera), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Mike Patton (Faith No More), Rob Halford (Judas Priest) and Michael Kiske (Helloween) are some of the top tire names of that smorgasbord of singers. I recommend to check out Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys (United Alive 2017) or Rainbow - Mistreated Live 1977 Munich.

Growing up a huge fan of this music and especially this band, and studying Music, I knew this…even if no one else with Music education did. I saw Queensryche (sadly, they’re no longer with Geoff) a few times with him and it was always top tier. Some other footage here on YT from before this era is low video quality but you can STILL tell Geoff's performance is STUNNING! Always an inspiring song for me as well.
