I saw Queensryche a few months later in a small club in Baltimore MD . Jan 85 . Had a barstool at a balcony overlooking the stage on the side . Degarmo might have been 10 feet away . I couldn't have dreamed of better seating . Kinda felt the band was all mine that night. $5.00 at the door and maybe 150 people in all . My buddy told me they were playing Hammerjack's tonight so I went.. During Take Hold of The Flame . Geoff climbed up and took my hand and we both watched Degarmo together during his lead . I can still remember the look on Chris's face . He looked concerned " Dude , Please don't push our singer off " He never missed a note and when Geoff got back on the stage and the song ended . Chris looked at me and smiled and I could read his lips . Thanks ! . The absolute amazing thing that night was how tight they were . I couldn't believe it was real. It was magical . My buddy that told me Queensryche was playing that night. Was also at the time my bandmate / bass player . I left the band but my buddy Keith would go on to play on that same stage years later . He went on to become the bass player for Iced Earth in 96 and is on Iced's Earth's Dark Saga album . He passed away in 2022 and his brother posted a memorial for him on KZbin . In one of his pics . It was my buddy Keith and Geoff together . Thought I'd share .

This performance is so tight and perfect that it's hard to believe it's even live and not prerecorded and acted like in the music videos. Queensryche is one of those few bands that are as or better technically precise live then in the studio. Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are very similar in this regard. What a show that would have been to see those 3 similar bands share a stage. Long live the Progressive Metal God's 🤘🏼❤️

My 1st concert was Iron Maiden on their World Slavery Tour Jan 1985 at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. I was 16 yrs old. Twisted Sister was opening for Maiden on this tour, but not in NYC - maybe because it was their home turf? Anyway I remember being disappointed because they were big at the time with "We're not gonna take it", etc. When I heard "Queensryche" was opening instead I was like "Who's that?". Little did I know what was in store - I was totally blown away by their performance!! What a great show with 2 of metal's greatest vocalists. Ran out and bought the "Queensryche" EP and "Warning" album the next day at "Slipped Disc" on Rockaway Ave in Valley Stream. Have been a fan ever since. This video of them in Tokyo late 1984 brings me right back to that show so many years ago when I was introduced to the greatness of Queensryche!!

Geoff Tate is still better than younger singing colleague MICHAEL KISKE even today! I have been to three Helloween concerts after KISKE return to Helloween, and it was SHIT Really scary! If Hansen and Andi Deris weren't there, it would be like a Karaoke Show! His voice is very weak today!A month ago I was at the GEOFF Tate concert in Budapest and it was an amazing show for the OPERATION MINDCRIME album! At the age of 64, he sang his compositions from his youth much better than his younger singing colleague KISKE in Helloween!
