No bass sampling here - four piece band - standup bass, guitar/vocal, drums, keyboards. I love these guys!

It is 5am, and the sun has charred the other side of the world and come back to us and painted the smoke over our heads an imperial violet...

One of my favorites from the 90s. Really talented bunch of guys. This album was definitely their best.

1994 was a great year for music! I was 18 when this was released! Nostalgia 🖤

Bass isnt a sample. Been a soul coughing fan since 1993. Dude plays an upright.

I don’t listen to them a lot nowadays, but I love this band’s sound. One of many artists I discovered from the TV show House back in the day. Their song “$300” was in an episode. In comparison to the rest of that ‘90s alt-rock scene, they’re pretty unique. You should check out their song Super Bon Bon, even just on your own time.

The obvious choice would have been True Dreams Of Wichita. Was an awesome live band.

No samples for bass... Upright bass player Sebastian Steinberg not only killed it as a member of Soul Coughing, but he's also gone on to be the bassist for the last two Fiona Apple albums...

@@9vbattery297 Yeah, an odd pairing, but I think M. Doughty and Jeff were NYC buddies and worked it out with Jeff's label

You listened to one soul coughing song 👍 check out a few more. They aren't all like screenwriters blues. Check out super bon bon if you need the most normal poppy song they had

Not a bad comparsion. Both shared the humor and vocal style but Soul Coughing were more jazz inspired.
