There's a reason you don't see many auditions with songs by certain artist, such as Adele, Linkin park. I like to think Chester's voice is too iconic that judges are thinking, "it was good, but it wasn't Chester." That's such a high bar to reach for.

Chester is definitely not all that, and Numb is not an iconic song, just popular.
@tiojoao54153 жыл бұрын
@The quiet kid Linkin Park gains fans because of the success of Hybrid Theory and its mix of various genres, from Rap to Rock to Electronic, Numb has none of that, it's just generic Pop Rock, worst song on the album, Nobody Listen or Hit The Floor should have been singles instead of him. Meteora and consequently Numb gain success over the previous album, even though it is only a simplified and worsened version of it. Linkin Park never rehasped the Rock. They are far from being the first to do Rap Rock, bands like Run DMC, Faith No More, Public Enemy, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Rage Against the Machine have done it MUCH before, they are also not the first to put electronic sounds in the middle of rock. Just remember also that the band is still complete, only ONE of the vocalists died, so it doesn't make their success more impressive.

The most peculiar thing about all these covers i have seen is that no one ever replicates Chester. His voice and talent were so unique, it's not even once in a lifetime, it's like once in a world history. Chester was so good that just getting "kind of close" is an achievement. No one expects you to actually do the impossible and nail it. 9 months since I made this comment and people are still reading it and being affected by it. That's super cool! To the people that say cover-artists are not supposed to replicate the exact voice, but put their own spin on a song. This is of course a matter of opinion, since many cover artist DO try to replicate the original and are succesfull doing it. However, my point was not that cover artists should try to replicate Chester. It was simply that even the cover artist that DO try to replicate it (there are a bunch) only ever "gets kind of close".

@tiojoao54153 жыл бұрын
Classic generic comment talking about Chester and Freddie Mercury as the best singers, but I say they are not all that, not even close to what they say, they are overrated because they died, and that's it. There are MUCH better singers than them, singers alive and dead, like Mike Shinoda himself (he doesn't scream well, but he sings better and with more emotion, see No Roads Left for example) Scott Weiland, Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Serj Talakian ( I must have spelled it wrong), Corey Taylor (this guy is like Mike and Chester together, see Spit It Out and Duality for an example), and probably the best and most versatile vocalist in history, Mike Patton, this guy has done since Rap and Metal to Italian music, he reached 6 octaves (Freddie only reached 4, and Chester 3 if I'm not mistaken), changed voice all the time (see Stripsearch and Midlife Crisos for an idea), it was AMAZING in live performances and it was really funny, he just wasn't good with lyrics, at least on The Real Thing. Speaking of live performances, Chester wasn't that good at them, he has some DEPLORABLE performances, especially several Faint and 2017 performances.

Linkin Park is one of the most influential bands of all time. I don’t think there’s a single person from Gen-Z who hasn’t been touched by their music. It was our own private therapy. They voiced our emotions, all of our pain, our regrets, our shortcomings, and our uncertainties. RIP Chester Bennington. Another great voice taken from us too soon.

Chester Bennington was a vocal master that can pierce the toughest of hearts in a time where you need hope the most. I still get sad knowing that he will never grace us with his voice again. He stood for so much with who he was as a person that can never be compared to by anyone other than the members of Linkin Park themselves. "Music for relief" is just one example. May his soul live on forever in the hearts of many.

I feel the 1st singer is the closest manage to hit the “growl” den back to a normal high pitch notes.. very good vocal controls.. and he can sing with his eyes open.. meaning its natural for him while singing with eyes close like for some of the other contestants means its like they are trying to mimic chester’s voice as close as they can to impress the judges..for a competition or even performing live is important as eye contact is where the singer connect with his audience
