Seems to me the CIA or Atari had a benefactor who provided a sort of memetic "Chinese Room" in the form of the game console which had the benefit of dosing you w acid too. This was immediately used in MK-Ultra mind control experiments w/o proper understanding of the anomaly. When mostly gov. officials planning to weaponize, it would condition the subject to those preclusions. Once it had interacted w enough civilan test subjects it began to make an approximation of human thought in the form of the angst dream of a teenager. The benefactor realized either it was too much collateral or the game console trying to quilt together a hive mind of CIA operatives sub-conscious high school anxieties wasn't the intended outcome.

The SCP is taking over the minds of the CIA personnel and having them work against attempts to contain it. They keep adding and redacting info from the audio files on the command of the SCP. It even managed to get them to drop their own security protocols which they put up when they started to realize this was happening.
@rwberger68 ай бұрын
The device is a prototype of an Atari system utalizing some strange material the government found. The CIA was attempting to utalize it as a sort of brainwashing device to create loyal and hyper focused drones. When exposed to the device they have all distracting and unessesary brain functions and thoughts not associated with the tasks they're given removed and stored by the device. When the effect is ended the person returns to normal. While experimenting with it, the CIA noticed that the division responsible for it had basically become fanatical about it. As it turned out the device had become sort of self aware due to all the memory it had absorbed as processesing power and was enacting control over the people who had connected to it and was using them to benefit itself, infect the labs systems, and "play". As it turns out people don't fully disconnect from the device when the mind control ends. The agent in the log at the end was being effected by the device as it spins out of control and the situation only calms down when the device becomes bored and is satisfied with making the people under its control play with it in a sort of loop.

That was absolutely hilarious because as someone who knows the atari 2600 inside and out it is so far beyond the ability of the hardware that it is just funny. I wondered if they were going to bother mentioning the special cartridge memory expansion to make it slightly more logical because the base atari 2600 could only address 4kb of memory on a cartridge at most and programmers had to get real cleaver to program around that with bank switching and other things. Then I realized oh the entire thing was supposed to be based on the development of the starpath arcadia supercharger itself. I also have one of those in working condition and while it did help to further expand the memory and what the 2600 could do it was not really that much of an improvement overall otherwise it would have been a success instead of a flop. Cassettes were cheaper then cartridges and while it did expand the capabilities of the 2600 it was really more like a stop gap between the 2600 and 7800 which was meant to compete with the NES. Heck the games on it really are only on the level of not as good as atari 5200 games which also came and went. I have one of every atari system including the new VCS and Jaguar with working CD.... I might have a problem lol
@orang1921 Жыл бұрын
yeah that's kinda why it's an anomaly
@captaincrazyhat Жыл бұрын
@@orang1921 anomalies are always much better when they are based on something real but take it just that little step further into the super natural. There was one about 2 families that fought forever against each other based on the Hatfields and the McCoys who are real life families that have been fighting since the 1860s. The problem with technology ones based on tech so old is that it was so very limited in what it could do that people very much overestimate them. The 2600 came out in 1977 and was based on 70s technology. It really only knew what line it was currently to supposed to be drawing which is why bank switching worked because you would switch banks every other scan line. There is a great book called “racing the beam” about the 2600 and just how limited it really was. The other thing to keep in mind is that the 2600 could really only track 1 ball and some lines and that’s about the extent of it. The programmers had to get creative to make it do anything. The supercharger system only ever took the capabilities of the system from seeing 4kb of ROM to 128kb of RAM. The underlying hardware never changed you just had more storage space to work with so you could make some minor upgrades to visuals

The memory/hardware the system uses is the "unnecessary" portions it removes from you, leaving you a hyperfocused drone.
