Lovely botanical walk Cliff! You certainly know your wild plants and their growing conditions for them to grow in that area and also great place to camp too.

I thought the same thing when you opened your snack bar.....bear patties....😉!!! I haven't been to French Creek in many years. This will be a destination for my hiking pals. We did the west loop in Swatara State Park yesterday to check out what my old homestead looks like and to check out the locks along the Swatara. Great hike!

Allium vineale! Crows garlic!!! Dude I live in Philadelphia I find this all over the place. It’s so tasty! Went up to French Creek back in early March I need to get back there. Amazing hiking ground.

I like all your videos. That mad guy with the black mask that marched up behind you, scared me. I thought you were about to get jumped. Keep up the great work. I like the way you give the locations so I could possibly find these places someday when I get out of Alabama.

Hi Cliff, a lovely hike, the lake looked so beautiful and that frog sounded really weird almost like a model plane kind of sound. I really enjoyed seeing and hearing the sights and sounds of Spring. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 🙏💖

Enjoyable hike. Are there any areas that you hike in the northeastern area of PA where you can stealth camp? Thanks

Beautiful hike! Love hearing the frogs, seeing the turtles, & all signs of spring. Interesting about the bees & skunk cabbage to stay warm. I actually found some wild onions in my yard today. Sounds like you were having a lovely Easter gathering with Jon & family. Thanks, great adventure. 🥰

Hey Cliff! I enjoy watching your videos and listening to your commentary. I have learned alot about trails and historical places that you have showcased in your videos. I have made a list of the ones I have not been to yet. Hope to visit as many as I can this year. Thanks for your insight. God bless and keep up the good work. Kevin James

We've hiked Boone, it's beautiful! Looking forward to going back and exploring the other trails more this year. French Creek is an incredible place to just get lost in.

We used to go to French Creek for camping, hiking, picnicing and swimming while we were growing up in Lancaster. My husband and I moved back to Lancaster County in 2008, and visited a number of times to picnic until we left for SC IN 2018. The lake we visited in the 50s and 60s is not there any more - they created a new lake at some point.

That was interesting about the skunk cabbage being warmer and the bees.

Welcome to my neck of the woods. I live very close by. My husband and 3 dogs used to hike there 3 times a week. Our favorite was the six penny trail. Only snake we ever saw besides the water snakes was a giant rat snake!

In a couple months, revisit the skunk cabbage and look for the seed (fruit?). About the size of an egg, and interesting to disect. ...well, at least I find it interesting lol! After yet another 11 hour day at work, I really appreciated the beautiful hike! And, if it helps, I haven't seen any hepatica blooming here yet either, although the leaves are showing, so they may be behind.

Kentucky where i'm originally from has some beautiful historical Danial Boone trails, fort's, parks and of course his grave. Would be well worth adventuring one day.

I always enjoy going to Scotts Run in the Winter months to watch and talk with people there going ice fishing. Haven't been there the last few years though (for THAT anyway). I was at Hopewell Furnace last year though. 👍 post AGAIN, Mr. Z.

Can't wait to go camping there in late June and hike that myself and do a vid for it as well and check out the Hopewell Furnace & St. Peter's Village. Watch out for those waking timber rattlesnakes and copperheads .Horseshoe Tr is 144 miles Harrisburg to Valley Forge

Yes, I'm interested in frog sounds. You have different species than WA state. Except for spring peepers and tree frogs, we have lots of those. Enjoyed looking for Spring erupting!

Cool sighting of the Osprey. Bald Eagles can be found there as well. I myself sometimes become frustrated when people engage in loud oblivious conversation on the trail. It certainly is their right to do so, but for me personally I enjoy the immersion in the natural world, the sights, sounds, and smells of the woods. As a quiet observer, the surrounding forest will soon begin to reveal itself and this is why I would choose to hike on a trail and not walk through my neighborhood for example...

Funny story about the last time I camped at French Creek about 25 years ago. Me and my then boyfriend now husband packed a ton of food for a three day camping adventure. The camping food turned out to be unappealing to both of us so we headed out of the park to Morgantown to McDonalds for dinner two nights in a row. Lovely park and best camping food ever! 🤣
