That 5% out there that is giving the hobby a bad name can actually cause a beginner to give up. It almost happened to me several years ago when I was told that I was doing everything wrong, my fish were not healthy or happy and I felt bad because the last thing I wanted to do was kill fish or give them a bad environment to live in but I stuck with it and found some great advice from some great people like yourself so thank you for doing what you do and all the help that you give people. Thanks for sharing and as always...Do what you do if it works for you.

This is great advice! Listen to people you respect, than recreate, experiment and educate yourself from your own experience. I love it when people I respect have conflicting theories, it’s such a great opportunity to experiment and truly learn what works for you. I’m finding myself watching your videos more and more, I really respect your approach and teaching methods.

You made perfect sense. First by stressing to keep an open mind, doing research yourself, finding somebody who is already doing what you want to do or keeping the fish you want to keep and seeing if what they do and how they do it will work for you. The most successful fishkeepers I follow may have polar opposite opionions on substrates and water changes, but what they all have in common is this... They all state and stress...this is what works for ME with my water in my area and with my fish keeping habbits. This is not the only way to do this thing, this is the way I've narrowed down what works best for me. Those are the folks I listen to, watch and learn from. The "FISH POLICE" people who tell me..you cannot, you better never ever, and if you try something and it fails you're a bad fish keeper who should have known better than to break our self imposed rules... Yeah, "those" folks...run from them, they are toxic to newbie fish folks and like to start drama with experienced fish keepers who are minding their own business being successful doing what they do. Don't knowingly subscribe to the "FISH POLICE" people. 👍💕👍

Great vid man. Totally was inspired to start a planted tank based on your influence. Just getting going with a low tech setup with some anubias congenesis, java fern windelov, marimo moss balls, and recently acquired some type of red root floater. I've already got other ideas for tanks. Thanks for your great vids and influence on the hobby. Total respect, cheers Brother!

Your my go too person mate. 👍 speaking of that... by putting lids on your tank ie (glass).. how much par do you think you'll lose . By doing it? It's got to effect it ay.
@TheWaterBox
@TheWaterBox 5 жыл бұрын
Some. It depends on how dirty it is. If you keep the lids clean, you won't get too much loss.

I agree there is no one person with all the answers ive watched almost every channel and they all have fish tank disasters from cory @coop to joey to rachel oleary just to name a few all great fish keepers with great channels like this one but no one has all the answers and watching you guys do your things let all us non photogenic fishaholics learn new and inventive ways to further the hobby and maintain our tanks more easily while at the same time teaching new fish keepers from making the same mistakes that cost other lots of $$$. keep up the good work!

There are so many different variables in fish keeping. I consider a lot of things I’ve learned as baseline information which is a good foundation and you adjust your response and how you do things based on your situation and your insight and experience. Ive learned this from keeping and breeding my Hillstreams💦

Haha, good guilt trip. That's it Chung: research as much as you can, gather as much information as you can. Try what feels right, monitor results and be prepared to change it up if you feel you need to. Every system is different, everybody's resources and influences are different... Often times more than one way of doing things will work sometimes better or worse but sometimes equally as well or in balance with other things going on. Keep your eyes and your mind open. Good video addressing this topic bud. 👍
