Simple and elegant, and completely non-destructive as well, so probably a great first hardware mod to try. The worst you can do is probably disconnect one of the controller port connections.

Cool, I did alternating blue/white/b/w to my region modded Orange Gamecube- looks awesome at night like this. Have my 3 XBs, recapped, Arctic Silver paste reapply, power supply fortified, new quiet fan, new working DVD drives, 320GB-2TB HDDs, painted and cleaned up chassis, and single 1.0 revision with LCD temp mod in front panel...yet through all that I got lazy and never got around to this for them yet lol Maybe one rainy day.

Hey man I really like the way you teach and show how things are done. Any chance you would do a custom led mod for the N64? There are tons of videos either just showing the final product or videos that give a overview. I need step by step. Something your good a doing. Anyways just thought I would ask.

On the off chance that you will see this, I have two questions for you. In the video you say these are 7mm LEDs but they look like 5mm. Are they 7 or 5? Also, did you use orange or yellow LEDs? They go well with the modded system power button.

I don't remember now but they are probably 5mm. I likely used orange LEDs but it's pretty easy to connect the LED to a bench power supply or even a coin cell battery and color match it against your Xbox power light

@@thewheelman282 Thanks. I followed this guide with green LEDs and it turned out great. Thank you for coming up with a non-intrusive method!!

stupid question but is there really a need for the resistor seems like the led would be fine without one or at least if you use the right one or is there some risk to the xbox that im not getting?
@thewheelman2827 ай бұрын
Yes the resistor is necessary unless the LED operating voltage is 5v which is very unlikely. LEDs usually operate between 2 or 3v so overvolting them will cause them to burn out prematurely.

Christmas lights are a cheap way to get LED diodes already prepared to install, just cut, weld and hot glue

+thewheelman282 is it possible to use color changing or full spectrum LEDs for this? If so, how would you determine what resister to use?
@Hellraiser9882 жыл бұрын
Possible yes resistor type idk

Problem here mine seems to have the joints oxidised so they really aren't going anywhere
