Got here from Kim Du Toit and Splendid Isolation. . 1970-74. The mountains east of Sacramento, California. I owned a 1958 Bentley. . A 'Flintstones' vehicle with much of the floor rusted through, I installed the body on a Chevy pick-up truck frame. . As you might expect, a Chevy 454ci was next, then a Ford nine-inch rear axle. . Near Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento Raceway had Saturday quarter-mile drags. The old Bentley rarely broke 108mph at 11.66... and was a squirrelly handful above a sedated 60mph, but was a brute to stop. . During my 'brit' period, I also ran a 1953 Austin Healey set up for slalom rallies, and a 1967 XKE coupe rigged for drags. As you might imagine, Chevy small-blocks were immediately installed, boosting performance -- and reliability -- significantly.

Even while in grade school, 60 years ago, seeing a Rolls-Royce always brought a smile to my face. It continues to do so today. Its reputation, excellence and the drive to create the ultimate best has continued to inspire me. I have always loved to work with my hands, eyes and mind. Where I live, there are a great many Rolls-Royces. As an entrepreneur and retired CEO, I would love to own one. However, if you possess such a outstanding example of automotive art and fine craftsmanship, in my view there is an obligation to care for it in the same manner as those who dedicated themselves to its creation. In short, I would hesitate to drive a Rolls as a daily driver. I would want to keep mine at home in the garage, as you don't want to harm a work of art!

Excellent! But (and this is not a criticism of the video but an observation on plant signage) … Did anyone else notice a typographical inconsistency in the placement of the hyphen between Rolls and Royce? Compare the fence signage @ 1:05:40-1:05:48 and the name on the building frontage @ 1:10:55-1:15:31 - on the fence the hyphen stands at about one-third the letter height while on the building entrance it stands at the halfway mark. Why do I notice such things? I’m a typographer.
@fernandowaltersiarez4466 Жыл бұрын
that should be corrected immediately! That error denotes carelessness and is in right at the entrance of the building! It is not a minor mistake. Everyone entering the factory sees it, although do not think of it.
