This flip up keeps the animal hung straight, also prevents the fight on the ground where they gain traction and pulling power. A very good feature indeed. No need to shoot them the old way when finding them alive and stressed out with a leg hold. Mission accomplished Andrew.

The first time I saw one of these swing-up snares, it was in a movie. The hero was in a jungle and he swung right up by the legs - I guess the tribe was after some big game - and along came the cannibals in while and we went on to scene two. That is one gorgeous pelt, Andrew!

Im 15 and live in upstate NY and I watched your design and made my own flip up snare and caught 3 fisher this month and showed a couple old trappers in the area and told them about you and your channel and they spread it on to all thier friends and they subscribed, thanks all you videos they really are fuckin helpful thanks man

The Flip-Ups remind me of rabbit snaring when I was a kid. We used a sapling about 10 ft high, bent it over and set a slip loop around 4 pegs and a trigget. Baited with a piece of apple - nothing like finding a hanging rabbit the next morning.

I've watched all your vids,I'm glad your back on the line.Cool up there lately.Your good in the bush my friend.To loosen those moose and caribou by yourself takes some doing.Most don't realize you depend on you.Day in day out.I trapped in northern NB,go in Nov,out mid Feb.This before you tube,and channels..A good life,but not easy.You make it LOOK easy..From your fur handling,food preparation,to the dog training,and all in between,it shows,you learned well.I hope you stay warm,and traps full.

Hey nice Wolverine,like you say beautiful colors, Glad to see the flip up snare producing, We never did get one set, but we did get a wolverine in a 220 in a hole in a old beaver house, sold him for 300 in the round.We got a couple trail cameras out and picked up some nice pics of timber wolves, got a pic on my facebook page. Keep the vids coming really enjoy.

I like the stacking part best.I can just tell if you had your complete line set with these snares and caught all in one day they would stack in your sled like fire wood. Food for thought? In addition to the suggestion above (swivel)... if you have a screw-in eye to attach the swivel to, you could also have a hook on a pole (kept in your sleigh), enabling you to just hook the eye and pull the elevated end of your pole down easier. Same pole could be used to dispatch some animals without use of the rifle? Congrats on the wolverine in your flip-up pole set ! That's cool.

Awesome design! Protect your trapping rights too! Keep others informed of the necessity of animal control. WE, here in Colorado, USA lost our rights by an amemndment to the state constitution, outlawing legholds, snares, and conibear type traps, many years ago. Still possible to get damage control permits....They can KMA! I wrote many letters to newspapers, etc. Watched your videos for a few years now, wanting to set some traps and snares. Keepa going!!!!!

That flip up snare is a beutty. Man can't wait until I catch a wolverine. I got 2 more milk crates from Inuvik today so I will be trying them out in the next day or so for wolverine. I will have to try one of those flip ups next year. I want to try a couple deadfalls this year.

Just a thought. Have you thought of putting a swivel between your trigger and the snare so that all you have to do is open the J-hook and put on another snare, thus allowing you to reset with a new snare and not having to take the entire setup back to your cabin. Would save a lot of time & get your snare back in operation the minute you leave the set. Would also prevent twisting of the snare cable.

Awesome catch! Nice carcajou! I'm really appreciating the advantages of the flip up snare. Not only does it get the catch away from animals that might damage the pelt, but it keeps the catch from twisting and rolling and fighting as hard. Is it the cold that kills them when they are caught or the fact that it's a neck catch? If you had made a body catch rather than a neck catch, would the result be the same? I'm wondering if this type of flip up snare would work in warmer climates.
