I love the fact that you remind people that not everyone can afford to eat the entire thing in one sitting. We weren't struggling by any means growing up, but as you get older, you start to realize the small things your parent's used to do to put food on the table and make sure you weren't hungry. Awesome cheap meal idea, thank you! Also, almost 900k? Congrats my man!

Thank you Wolfe! Even though I have a comfortable life now, it has not always been the case. There are times when I wished I had access to this information because we really needed it then. I remember how helpless and ashamed I felt that I could not provide better for my family. So I thank God for you and for your mission to help struggling families because no one deserves to feel that way.

Don’t blame yourself, you did the best you could. Even when I was struggling, I had already raised my son, so it was just me and on days that I made do with a cheap lunch, unhealthy or something small, I always reminded myself, there’s always tomorrow and I’m getting thru the day. I just ate some spaghettios but this time it was just because I’m bored and don’t wanna cook, but if I do, I’ll know I’m doing the best I can and try hard to eat vegetables and drink water, and maybe pop in a casserole to get thru a tiring work week! ❤

Yeah, the weight measurements before and after cooking would be great. Too many companies claim to be "plumping" the meats with flavourful ingredients but it's often just water. Or barely salted water so they can technically claim it's a "flavouring agent."

Huge fan here! If I have meats that give off so much moisture, I drain it off and then boil it down to make stock to fry up my veggies for the next meal. Maybe I'm too frugal, but it's all flavor in my eyes! You could have just added it back in instead of the broth for a complimentary turkey flavor!

Great video! I have found ground turkey and some ground chicken having a lot of moisture as well. A suggestion, do not remove the water/liquid. It actually has a lot of flavor in it.Turn the heat down to low and slow down the process. It takes twice as long but if you allow it to evaporate away (leaving behind flavor) then turn up the heat and brown the meat.

The video idea of comparing ground meat is actually a killer idea. They 100% add water to the slurry when they make these processed ground meat products. Either that or they way it is processed releases more or less water from the muscle. The "mechanically separated" part is where it gets me.

skillet, instant pot, crock pot, wahtever floats your boat. I used to love to cook for my girl, two course meals for weekend dinners. Now, i think it's silly. It's me and two dogs and sometimes i maneuver the recipe so we all eat the same thing (i do the onion/pepper or harder spices in a separate set. ONE POT, then divide and take my portion and add some more stuff. Thankyou for your videos. Inspirational.

I did some thing a few years ago similar, but in the crockpot. I took a small turkey breast and cooked it until I was able to shred it with two forks. Then I added my stuffing makes cream of mushroom soup, my vegetables, etc. It was so delicious. We ate on it for almost a week just the two of us at home me and my husband. Plus some of the extra fixings mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, etc. It was very delicious and very easy since I have chronic pain doing a full on meal is really difficult so cooking. The turkey in the crockpot was really good because I could rest and just let the turkey and stuff and do its thing. Thank you so much for all of your advice and hints and tips. I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving.

The best way I've found to get rid of the water, but keep the fat is to cook the ground meat on medium until it's done sweating, then turn it to high, and let the water boil out! After the water is gone, you'll have oil and meat which will start to produce Golden brown and delicious parts! The other option is to season ground meat then make burgers. after you grill or fry the burgers, you can break them up in the pan!

I use the same brand of ground turkey that Larry used in the video in dishes like chili, spaghetti sauce, and sloppy joes. I wholeheartedly second this method of getting rid of the juice the turkey exudes without having to drain the meat. I also have to admit that this budget dinner would be good anytime of the year! I will have to try this for dinner soon!

I weighed the 1 lb roll of Festive ground turkey after cooking once and it gave me 9 oz of meat. I did the same with the 1 lb roll of Kirkwood ground turkey from Aldi and it gave me 11 oz. My oven broke so I got an electric roaster oven on sale. Cooked a 12lb turkey 98¢ a lb at Walmart. Great value turkey stuffing which I add celery, onion & sage to the boiling water. I made green bean casserole in the crockpot & was surprised the onions did brown on the top. Next day I made gravy with all the drippings & cornstarch. Added left over turkey so we had it all the next day leftovers. I was lazy having to put the rest of the leftovers away so I just added the leftover stuffing, turkey & gravy to the crockpot with the green bean casserole. It looked dry I added some water & heated it up & it was delicious! My son said: I ate the rest of the thanksgiving mush & it was great😂 All the talk about thanksgiving recipes I can't wait until Thanksgiving & cook it a week before. I'll also be cooking it thanksgiving adding candied sweet potatoes & cranberry sauce on the side & I'll add those two to the leftover mush😂

LoL about the Chinese restaurant all you can eat. Ours gives you a very small plate & they give us dirty looks going up for seconds 🙄 They shouldn't say all you can eat if they don't want that. They could say 1-2-3 plates or what you can eat in an hour or whatever, but that's false advertising all you can eat. No other all you can eat restaurants or buffets have ever given me an attitude & watched me like hawks🙄 I ordered pork fried rice to go & I've never seen such tiny shreds of pork ever before in fried rice. The only bad thing moving from Chicago to rural is the restaurants suck & it's impossible to get good Chinese food or pizza. The 2 Mexican restaurants are very good though thank goodness.

i make a version of this dish... i brown the turkey(it will eventually brown a bit) add a few cans mixed veggies and turkey gravy...heat those ingredients together in pan, place this cooked mixture in a baking dish...in another bowl combine the stuffing mix and hot water mix well and then top the meat veggie mix, bake covered for 15 minutes and uncovered for 10. we call it thanksgiving pot pie casserole.

That's a good recipe. Right now, where I live, we can get whole frozen turkeys for .48 a pound. Many churches and food banks are handing them out for free to families in need. Would you be up to a challenge of determining how many meals a family of four can get from a 20lb turkey? I'm sure a big turkey can be slaughtered and refrozen into manageable portions or even made into casseroles and frozen. How would you do it?
@nanismeelasla

I'd give it anywhere from two weeks to a month or so that you can keep eating that turkey, as long as you have a freezer and break it into manageable enough pieces
