I loved Eric, still do of course ❤ he is just a really genuine, lovely down to earth, unassuming guy with a bucket load of talent who was the "musicians" guitarist..the most heartbreaking song you will ever hear is Tears in Heaven..😪 he wrote that off the back of an horrendous tragedy when his little boy Conor aged 4 fell 50 floors from a apartment window in New York 😪 my heart broke for him and his wife. I have much love and respect for Clapton, he, like Floyd, Genesis, ELO Supertramp and the rest where an integral part of my teens in the 70s...❤

You didn't know he jammed like that??? He was the original solo monster from the late 60s early 70s, to the extent that fans called him God and detractors created punk rock, along with the "bullsh*t solo". He was known for endless solos back then*, mostly because fans demanded them, not necessarily because he wanted to, so he said in his autobiography. I have heard him rocking out like Stevie Ray Vaughn in tapes from the 60's, so he's the real deal. * The Onion had a headline: "Clapton Solo Enters third Day" lol

Layla is a reference to a persian folk tale about a peasant that falls in love with a princess who isn't allowed to marry him. The song is them falling in love, the solo is them running away, and the piano break is them finally getting to be happy together. In reality, Eric is the peasant boy and Layla is Patty Boyd, who he couldnt have because she was married to his best friend George Harrison of the Beatles at the time Eric wrote the song

If you want more Eric slaying it then check out his early days with Cream and Sunshine of Your Love, White Room or blues guitar with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers featuring Eric Clapton.
