The drummer was not the only lead singer in the band. They were changing the lead singers depending of the song. And also all of them could play two or more instruments. During the concerts they were switching and they could just pick up any instrument and play. Amazing group of unbelievably talented musicians.

@@sherryarflin726I agree..I love the Eagle's music, but Henley, and especially Frey were complete aholes to Felder. Felder didn't like having to perform at a fundraiser for a left-wing lunatic politician running for congress in California, and he protested, and was a stand-up guy, and told the politician he did not support him (backstage), and Frey flipped out and threatened to kick Felders ass on stage...Felder also was a great businessman, and objected to Frey and Henley spending lavishly on themselves out of the tour income...they showed him the door shortly after. Felder is a virtuoso guitarist, and in the same documentary, he is showing Joe Walsh how to play a part easier...Walsh was/is a nice guy, and he and Felder meshed really well. I can understand Henley and Frey having big egos...you have to have some ego to get that good, but they shafted Felder big time.

I still consider the Eagles to be the first supergroup, as each of the members had a solo career in their own rights. Meisner, Felder, Frye, Walsh, and Henley were each versatile in multiple instruments, each could sing, and each could play at a Rock Hall solo artist level of skill. If they were not an early inductee to the Hall as a band, they likely would have had at least two or three make it in as solo artists as well.

When I hear great classics like Hotel California, it makes me both happy and sad. Happy, because the music brings back great memories of growing up. But, sad because it just reminds me of how far the quality of music in general has sunk from the hay day of rock (late '60s to early '80s).
@joepublic40822 жыл бұрын
Yep I couldn't agree more. I mean there were *SOME* great songs & albums after that but they were pretty thin on the ground compared to the enormous volume of great music from the dates you highlight. Oh & I mean across the board from genre to genre whether it was soul or rock or country rock like the Eagles or heavy metal or even punk & yes, even in the commercial world of pop. I know tastes vary but for me the only modern [ish] band who can cut it in the company of the greats is MUSE. They are brilliant both studio recorded or live & their music is/was original & not derivative from past acts & the best live band I watched in the 21st century. Beside that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are a class act but they are a bit more derivative though IMO. Once you past them though I am struggling to find any who stand out as being able to live in the company of those great bands from yesteryear & any that do will surely be derivative.
