The Eagles - they're all vocalists. They didn't really have a lead vocalist. Their harmonies are everything... and they way the guitars weave in and out of each other... Some of the greatest musicians of that generation on one stage - 3 of them went on to have great solo careers after they broke up.
@arjones08192 жыл бұрын
Glen Frey and Don Henley are really the only ones to continue as soloists from the original. Randy Meissner's mental illness really set in, Bernie Ledon wasn't really into fame and the trappings. Joe Walsh had a solo career established before their mutual manager brought them together. Although Don Felder was largely responsible for the music of Hotel California, his success alone wasn't that great. Timothy Schmidt put out a couple albums but Henley and Frey had the most success
@dagmar.69542 жыл бұрын
This is the music I grew up on. The Eagles were a great 70's band with so many hit songs. They were known for their great harmonies. "Take It Easy", "Witchy Woman", "Desperado", "Already Gone", "Best of My Love", "Lyin' Eyes", "Take It to the Limit", "New Kid in Town" etc. Before they went solo they were the back up band for Linda Ronstadt.
@GOTGames2 жыл бұрын
The amount of awesome much around that time is mind blowing! And how much and how quickly music changed to over those generations
@mstewart1092 жыл бұрын
Linda Ronstadt----hmmmmm someone I know has been asking you to go down the rabbit hole?? Do you have any idea who??? And more 70s eagles. Drummers who sing same time is Phil Collins of Genesis. Took over lead singer- a d stopped drumming. One of tbe great ones. Yes to play drums and sing is challenging...more 70s music . Must have more of my magical youth of music I still listen to 98% of the time. Top tier stuff

Funny you should say that everyone would know this guitar solo. I teach Sunday School and had a 5th grader who had started guitar lessons and really wanted to play for the class. We gathered all the kids from 1st grade to 5th grade to hear his solo. He started playing and all the old lady teachers were just smiling and swaying to the music but I knew the song right away. I sidled up to my assistant and whispered "Is that Hotel California?" and he whispered back, "yep". We rolled with it and had a great concert in church. We still laugh about that.

The Eagles were my favorite band growing up. They were just as good live as they were in the studio. Loved your enthusiasm for this video. Glenn Frey passed away in 2016, r.i.p. But the eagles have and still are touring commemorating the 1976 Hotel California album. From Sept. 9th through Nov. 25th 2022 in Canada and The United States.
@ziggymarlowe56542 жыл бұрын
All the members of the Eagles could sing, so you may hear a different vocalist on another song. For instance, Randy Meisner sings lead on the song "Take it to the Limit" during this same concert. I think it was the best performance Randy ever did. Glen Frey and Joe Walsh also have a turn at lead. This was a phenomenal concert. I think the Eagles have purposely left the meaning vague, but it is generally understood to be a cautionary tale of the excesses that comes with success, especially in Southern California. That guitar solo at the end really soars when Joe Walsh joins in with Don Feldar. One of the best.

This is without a doubt so great, even though it has been played like a zillion times, still one of the most iconic songs from a handful of iconic tunes, from the modern music era. Start with an incredible melody, lyrics that are otherwordly, those voices, especially Don's, and the guitar playing (you're right, Walsh is a god), and you have a tune that few ever written can surpass. I think truly the Eagles are America's best homegrown rock band. Let's raise a glass to the 70s and to the southern California sound that decade made famous. Gotta go now, time to check out of my hotel...seems I can check out but I can never leave!!!!! PS-- It is one of the greatest of all time, BTW.

Funny story .. Saw them live in Hershey, PA. Started off and it was soooo perfect. I got furious. It was the age of Milli Vannili ( or however you spell it). I looked at my friend and said “they are lip syncing .. they are fucking lip syncing!” And then Joe hit a clunker chord. Wrong horrible chord. Glenn could not stop laughing. He tried to harmonize but was sputtering with laughter. Best concert moment of my life. Jumped up and down screaming “It’s live It’s live!” I enjoy your unbridled joy whilst making your videos! Just thought of another artist to recommend - Joni Mitchell. There are videos of her performing one of her signature songs, Both Sides Now, when she was 23, just her and her acoustic guitar. Then around 2000, about 35 years older, Joni reimagined the song, transposed it down a third, as her voice had changed in those years, and set it with an orchestral arrangement. Both performances are great, and it's worth seeing them back to back to contrast them. To really appreciate Joni's musicianship, you should also watch her live performances of Amelia and Coyote from 1979, accompanied by an all-star jazz combo, including Pat Metheny on guitar and Jaco Pastorius on bass.

Man, regarding THE BASS: I have the Japanese mini-LP SHM-CD Edition of the Hotel California album, and, in HD sound, THE BASS (and EVERYTHING ELSE) is clear as a BOOMING BELL. It's a powerful sonic experience, EVERY TIME. Thank you for the passionate reaction. Yes, Don Henley is KNOWN for THE VOICE and THE DRUMS, both on in the studio and the concert halls. Glenn Frey, the co-founding member of The Eagles (along w/ Don Henley), for decades, referred to Henley's voice as, "The Golden Throat". According to Henley and Frey, the lyricists of the song, "Hotel California" (in its own Satanic way) is about the dark side of California (and Hollywood and the music business), and how everything that glitters isn't gold. Regarding Fleetwood Mac's live performances: "Silver Springs" , "Dreams", "Gold Dust Woman", "Rhiannon", "Big Love", "Over My Head", and "Landslide", all from THE DANCE (1997). England, We love you, From America. Thank you for giving Us The British Invasion...two times...The 1960s and The 1980s. P.S. I saw The Eagles live, in Summer 1996, during the HELL FREEZES OVER tour, on Long Island, NY. And, it was THIS GOOD, 20 years later. Quite possibly, the best concert I ever saw. Still have the tour souvenir t-shirt, and it still looks and wears great. P.P.S. The Eagles are VERY MUCH still performing, and still sound incredible, in their collective 70s. For proof, listen to: "One Of These Nights" live 2018, on KZbin. Henley and the boys still sound phenomenal.

The Eagles was the first concert I attended and saw them again in my youth and then during their Hell Freezes Over Tour. Music from my childhood...

These live reactions are awesome. One I’d like to see you do is Chicago live at Tanglewood 1971. The whole concert is epic although 25 6 to 4 would be a good one to react to.

Another great live drummer singing is Levon Helms of The Band on Up On Cripple Creek in their Last Waltz tour. That concert, every song, is fabulous and featured the various artists they toured or played with over the course of their career. The Weight is especially good.

It is my favorite song. I played the heck out of it on the album. Actually the whole album is great!

My very first concert when I was 16. The Long Run Tour Roy Orbison opened for them. Classic. I didn't know him before the concert but I had heard his song Pretty Woman. My mom freaked out when I told her. She was a big fan!
